Born in Tokyo in 1975, he spent his junior high school years at Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture before moving to the United States for high school. After graduating from high school, he was a member of the All Japan Alpine Team for 10 years, competing in various European countries. He then served as head coach of the Chinese Alpine Team before running his own company for 12 years, during which time he also served as a commentator for the Alpine World Cup. In 2015, he moved to Hawaii, USA. In 2018, he returned to the snow as head coach of the All Japan Alpine Team, and in 2019, he moved to Innsbruck, Austria. He will leave the Alpine Team at the end of 2022, and is now a skier and entrepreneur living abroad who remotely runs Expanda Co., Ltd., the exclusive distributor of Kessle Skis in Japan, from Austria
