BRAND features

OSPREY was founded in Santa Cruz, California in 1974 as a backpack manufacturer. Founder and designer Mike Pfotenhauer was fascinated by the graceful flight of the osprey, which was on the verge of extinction at the time, and adopted the bird's name as the brand name and logo

Mike, who majored in painting at an art university, turned his attention to packs as a practical way to create products that combined his hobby of mountaineering with art. Initially, he manufactured custom-made packs for himself and for mountaineers. Later, he incorporated user requests and developer feedback, and devoted tireless efforts to product development to bring the ideal pack closer to reality. As a result, Osprey packs have earned an unshakable reputation as superior packs that have long demonstrated high quality, reliability, and innovation. While production has now been relocated to Asia, the company continues to produce products that combine functional beauty with outstanding performance, incorporating the same quality and philosophy that has remained true since the company's founding
