Enter Sammy Carlson. Introducing the signature model | FULLTILT

The 3-piece shell FULLTILT, commonly known as the FT boot, features a flexible boot structure that doesn't restrict ankle movement.
Since this boot first hit the market in 1981, its basic structure has remained unchanged for nearly 40 years. Despite this, it continues to attract many enthusiasts around the world, from skiers gliding down the slopes of Alaska to Olympic medalists.
This is a testament to the effectiveness of this structure and flex tongue.

Now, a new face has joined FULLTILT: SAMMY CARLSON, who has achieved numerous successes at the X Games and continues to be featured in numerous media outlets even after retiring from the competitive scene.

His signature model will be released in the 2021 season. Known for his diverse tricks and lines on every slope, his model, the "ASCENDANT SAMMY CARLSON" (hereafter abbreviated as SC), is part of the ASCENDANT series. The

ASCENDANT series, which has been in the lineup since the 2019 season, is the long-awaited FULLTILT tech-binding compatible boot.
The tour model, which maintains its greatest feature of gliding performance, has entered a new stage with the addition of the exceptional skiing genius Sammy Carlson to the team.

Differences and features of the two models in the Ascendant series

From here, let's take a look at Sammy's signature model, the "SC," and compare it with another model in the ASCENDANT series, the "APPROACH."

The only visible differences are the power belt and inner boot, but the biggest difference is the shell material. The differences are indicated in red in the specs for both models

The shell "EVOLUTION TOUR" of both models supports smooth walking and bending and stretching of the joints. It also has high walking performance. The cuff is designed to be high, making it easy to put on and take off

The "SC" uses a TPU shell and a lightweight Grilamid tongue. The "APPROACH" uses a TPU and Grilamid blend for the shell, and the tongue is also Grilamid, just like the "SC." TPU is durable enough to withstand hard falls and collisions, and is also thermoformable. The "APPROACH" makes extensive use of the lighter Grilamid material

These shell material characteristics show that the "SC" focuses on lightness and intense skiing, while the "APPROACH" is specialized in lightness for long periods of activity.

The "SC" also has other features that make it excellent for skiing.
The power belt is a "Cinch strap" that provides a better hold than regular straps and is excellent in power transmission and durability. The rip cord makes it easy to loosen, reducing the hassle when hiking up. The inner boot uses "PRO TOUR WRAP", which is one level higher than Tour Flex.

Watch this video and it's clear why Sammy chose FULLTILT.

Review the lineup

There are no major changes to the category overview from previous years.

In the "ALL-MOUNTAIN" category, the First Chair Series, with a 99mm last width and excellent power transmission, now comes in a 130 flex.
The Descendant Series, with a highly comfortable 102mm last width, also comes in a new 120 flex.

In the "FREESTYLE" category, the Signature Series remains strong. Tom Wallisch's "TOM WALLISCH PRO" and Henrik Harlow & Phil Casaubon's "B&E PRO" are not only noteworthy for their functionality that supports their respective performance, but also for their designs that reflect their intentions.
