What is phaenom?

"Phaenom" is a coined word derived from the English word "phenomenon" (an amazing person, thing, or phenomenon), pronounced /fay'nom/. It is both a way of expressing an amazing person or act of nature.

The original background to the product development was an awareness of the challenges in product design in the outdoor footwear field, namely, that there were few freeski products that offered excellent performance, were recyclable, and had a great design.

phaenom aims to accelerate the transition to circular design and pioneer the future of product design, believing in simplicity and intentional choice. Their philosophy is aligned with the spirit of wabi-sabi, which posits perfection as nothing is stripped away.

To put their ideas into practice, they have joined 1% for the Planet, which donates 1% of their profits to nature conservation, and have also obtained B Corp certification, which is awarded to companies with a strong public interest that are environmentally and socially conscious.

The black in phaenom has a meaning

The all-black design is not only visually stylish, but also encourages repair and reuse: even the buckles, straps and screws are designed from recyclable materials.

Key features include:

・All parts are recyclable
・Wide "Phaenom strap" that combines shock absorption and flex control
・Phaenom x LENZ insole included as standard
・Hard sole and lace-type inner liner that eliminates the need for a footbed
・Tongue position adjustment function, rare in freeski models

The design combines beauty, functionality, and recyclability to raise the bar for advanced freeskiers.
