The staff at pro shops have a keen eye for quality skis, having a cross-sectional view of various brands, test-riding them on the snow themselves, and gathering feedback from users. So, we asked them to recommend some skis from the new 2024-2025 freeride ski models. If you're interested in multiple new models but can't decide on one, or if you're looking for a ski that's highly rated by pros, this is the place to go!

ARMADA|ARV94

◆ Official HP / https://armadaskis.jp/
These skis are primarily for the slopes, but also work well in the park and side country. With a shape and flex that's just right for skiing on the slopes and in the park, I think they're a great choice for a variety of skiing styles and skiers! From freeride to freestyle, these skis are truly perfect for anything!

ATOMIC|BACKLAND 102

◆ Official HP / https://atomicsnow.jp/
These are freeride skis designed for use in the backcountry. They meet two criteria: they are lightweight, making them easy to use for backcountry activities like hiking, and they offer solid skiing in any conditions.
These two criteria seem to be the latest trends in freeride skis. I actually learned backcountry skiing with the original "BACKLAND100," and used them for over five years, switching to telemark skis at the same time!

ATOMIC|BACKLAND109

◆ Official HP / https://atomicsnow.jp/
The BACKLAND109 was released for the 2024-2025 season. Compared to last year's BACKLAND107 model, the waist is slightly wider, the top is slightly thinner, and the 3D structure provides increased buoyancy. While the weight is not much different from the 107, it feels lighter, perhaps due to its good balance, and is very easy to handle, making it extremely maneuverable in deep snow

blackcrows |Solis

◆Official website: https://www.hasco.co.jp/black-crows/
Even freeskiers who usually ski loosely should have at least one pair of traditional, challenging skis. While these skis are difficult to ride well with poor positioning, if you work hard, you'll naturally improve your skiing. Even if you later switch to different skis, you'll be able to further maximize their potential.
For advanced skiers with good positioning and a certain amount of power, these are the perfect all-mountain skis with a high speed range. I recommend trying them out on groomed slopes and powder, of course, but also on the rough, sloppy runs of an afternoon.
As for length, I recommend men choose 180cm if possible, but depending on your build and skill level, you may need to downsize for safety reasons.

CANDIDE SKIS|BC111

◆Official website/ https://www.candide.co/
The 1mm camber provides solid edging on the slopes, and the 111mm waist width provides buoyancy in powder. The twin tip shortens the effective edge, so even if you choose a longer length, it won't be too long. Whether you're cruising the slopes, tackling the side country, or playing around with the terrain, these skis are sure to be a hit with many skiers!

CANDIDE SKIS|RESORT101

◆Official website/ https://www.candide.co/
The 2023-2024 season was before the launch of CANDIDE SKIS, so unfortunately we were unable to feature it in this project. However, it actually received positive feedback from users at test rides, and we have had a solid number of reservations. This is the original brand of the renowned super freeskier Candede Thovex. It
is similar but not identical to the FACTION CT series, which Candide has been involved in developing for many years. Candede's skiing proves its high potential. However, it is not an extremely high-end or difficult-to-use ski, and it is also versatile enough to satisfy anyone! The RESORT 101 is a truly complete all-around freeski, from park skis to light powder!

DPS|CARBON WAILER 107

◆Official website/ https://www.dpsskis.com/
DPS took a break from domestic sales last season, but is making a comeback in 2024-2025. In addition to the "KAIZEN" series launched in 2023-2024, the "CARBON WAILER 107" returns for the 2024-2025 season, reviving the legendary Wailer shape!
Furthermore, it makes extensive use of bio-based materials and adhesives. While it's a next-generation ski, it offers a traditional ride feel, making it a true all-mountain ski. These skis are incredibly fun! Available in three waist sizes: 90/100/107. Choose based on your needs and preferences!

ELAN |RIPSTICK 102 BLACK EDITION

◆ Official HP / https://www.elanjapan.co.jp/
The RIPSTICK BLACK EDITION is a specially designed ski from the RIPSTICK series, known for its wide range of snow conditions. It uses more carbon to enhance its adaptability and aggressiveness, adding maneuverability.
The mountain field is heavily influenced by external influences, resulting in a wide variety of snow conditions. From easy to difficult snow, there are many different conditions. The RIPSTICK series, on the other hand, is characterized by its ability to maintain a comfortable skiing experience regardless of the ski's characteristics, and its greatest advantage is its "wide range of capabilities."
One of the RIPSTICK BLACK EDITION's defining features is its generous use of carbon material compared to the standard model, yet it has almost none of the sharpness and fluttering characteristic of carbon. To put it in extreme terms, it's like a "carbon ski that feels like metal skiing." This description is perhaps apt.
Not many skis offer this feeling. There are no issues with compatibility with either tech or frame types of bindings, but as these skis are ideal for grooming slopes, a heel piece with a suppressed welt would be a better match.

FACTION|LA MACHINE 4

◆ Official HP / https://jp.factionskis.com/
This ski is lightweight and nimble, yet offers a satisfying ride. It also lets you explore different terrains. While the manufacturer's catalog classifies it as a backcountry ski, it's perfectly suited to any situation, from slopes to side country. It's stable from mid- to high-speeds, easy to handle, and has no quirks, making it a ski that will satisfy skiers of all skill levels.
The boots and bindings you pair with it are great for touring, but you can also choose a skiing-focused setting. While you might be wondering whether to turn up the volume and go for "La Machine 5," think of your favorite runs and faces and make the decision.

KASTLE|PARAGON 101

◆ Official HP / https://www.kaestle.com/jp/
This is a frontside all-mountain ski from Kessle, a fully redesigned version of the popular FX series. Kessle's unique Symbio Core construction, Hollow Tech's excellent vibration absorption, and Freeride Rocker provide excellent flotation and turning ability on soft snow, as well as comfortable gliding on groomed runs. I think it's a very well-balanced and excellent ski

K2 | MINDBENDER 106C

◆Official website/ https://elevateoutdoorcollective.com/
The "MINDBENDER" series is a freeride model. It's available in both titanium and carbon fiber, but the carbon fiber version is characterized by its supple flex. It's easy to handle without having to push down hard with power. This all-around ski can handle both powder and slopes all season long. The center waist of 106 is just the right size

K2|RECKONER 92

◆Official website/ https://elevateoutdoorcollective.com/
These skis are light and soft, making them easy to handle and requiring no effort to operate. They're easy to control when carving and shifting, and have just the right width, making them suitable for a variety of conditions.
As a modern standard freeski, I think they're perfect for family skiers and leisure people who ski a few times a year, exploring the slopes and having fun. Another attractive feature is their relatively reasonable price. If you're a core skier and know someone who wants to start, I think these are skis you should definitely introduce to them.

LINE |CHRONIC 94

◆Official website/ https://elevateoutdoorcollective.com/
LNE's flagship model, "CHRONIC," underwent a major overhaul for the 2023-2024 season. The "CHRONIC 94" offers a perfect balance of ease of skiing and playfulness with standard specs. The relatively small radius makes it easy to get into carving. This ski is also recommended for those who want a classic, all-around ski after a full lap. It's a ski that can be used for both free runs and tricks

LINE |VISION114

◆Official website/ https://elevateoutdoorcollective.com/
This is the lightest freeride model among the LINE SKIs. Not only is it light, but its excellent gliding performance is one of its attractions. There are many lightweight skis, but skis that are designed specifically for lightweight skiing can have some uncertainties when it comes to gliding. The VISION is lightweight while maintaining high gliding performance, making it ideal for both the slopes and the backcountry, where a variety of snow conditions are expected. The twin tip design also makes it suitable for park riding. The sidecut has been completely redesigned for the 2024-2025 season, making it a noteworthy new model

RMU|PROFESSOR 111

◆Official website: https://www.caravan-web.com/brand_rmu/
This ski manufacturer started as a garage brand, but their current products have evolved into highly precise products. This season's recommended new model from RMU is the PROFESSOR111. It's a very fun ski in the trendy BC freestyle genre. While it's primarily designed for powder, the twin-tip-like top and tail rocker shape makes it easy to maneuver in any snow type, and while it provides solid skiing, it's also versatile enough to be used for tricks and jumps. You'll be able to enjoy every bit of mountain terrain!

SCOTT|SEA108

◆ Official HP / https://www.scott-sports.com/jp/ja/
These skis may not be widely available in Japan, but the ride itself is quite smooth and elegant. The flex and torque are neither too weak nor too strong, making them suitable for a wide range of skiers.
The ride is best described as "mild," so these skis are a must-try for anyone, except those looking for skis with a sharp edge. There should be no issues with combining them with either tech or frame bindings.

These are the best freeride skis! They offer stable skiing on everything from slope carving to sideboarding, powder to bad snow. The titanium plate underfoot improves stability and edge grip. Some people may find the 102mm center width a little wide, but I'm sure you'll enjoy skiing without worrying! This one ski is a great choice for both on-piste and off-piste skiing!!

Mt. Peaks will begin stocking VECTER GLIDE from the 2024-2025 season. Our recommendation from the range is the POLARVE LIGHT. The STANDARD has a metal base and feels sturdy, but the LIGHT is primarily made up of a wood core, making it easier to feel the flex of the ski. Many skiers, regardless of gender, will be captivated by its lightness on tree runs and other terrain
