What is Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort (Gunma Prefecture) like?

This hot spring resort, located in the famous Kusatsu Onsen, is located at a high altitude, with the bottom at an elevation of 1,250m. On a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji from the top of the slope. The top is at an elevation of 1,600m, which allows for high-quality powder snow to fall, and you can enjoy a long course with an elevation difference of 350m and a total length of 4,300m.

The parking lot is just 0 minutes away from National Route 292, and it's a 5-minute drive from Kusatsu Onsen town, making it very convenient. There is a wide selection of rental items, so you can come empty-handed and enjoy skiing and snowboarding right away. There are also events held every day during the season, and there are plenty of activities to choose from, including snowshoeing, the 500m-long zip line "BanZipTENGU," and the 10m-high giant swing "SKY-SWING."

The resort is also popular for its extensive food menu, including Edomae sushi, and for its convenient skiing and play, as well as its famous hot springs.

Introducing the easy-to-use "Smart Ticket" online service

Online advance reservations for "Empty-Handed Rental" and "Smart Ticket" will begin on Monday, December 1st. If you pre-register online, you can conveniently avoid the hassle of completing procedures on-site. Please note that "Empty-Handed Rental" is limited in number, so please check beforehand.

Pets are now allowed on the Pulse Gondola! A dog run is also planned to open.

The Pulse Gondola, an eight-seater cabin, is the new symbol of Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort and will be operational from December 2023. Pets will also be allowed on board from the 2025-2026 season. At the same time, a dog run is scheduled to open in the area where you disembark from the gondola. Family skiing with your beloved dog is a refreshing experience.

・Aobayama Course

Maximum gradient: 28 degrees, average gradient: 21 degrees / Distance: 250m / Slope orientation: South

The top of the slopes at Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort (1,600m above sea level) On a clear day, you can even see Mt. Fuji! On mornings after snowfall, the skies are covered in high-quality powder.

・Rhododendron course

Maximum gradient: 12 degrees, average gradient: 8 degrees / Distance: 3200m / Slope orientation: South

A wide, gentle, long course through a larch forest. Even beginners can ski here, making it the most popular course for families at Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort!

・R292 course

Maximum gradient: 8 degrees, average gradient: 5 degrees / Distance: 2000m / Slope orientation: South

As the name suggests, this course runs along National Route 292, which is closed in winter. Starting from Mt. Aoba, passing Mt. Onari and going out to Mt. Tengu, you can enjoy a long run of up to 4,300m.
