Taking advantage of the natural terrain and standing trees, the course has been opened as a "personal responsibility area"!
Located in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, Cupid Valley is operated by the Smile Resort Group, which also includes Maiko Snow Resort and Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort. Located in Joetsu, one of Japan's snowiest areas, the resort boasts high-quality snow and, on clear days, a spectacular view of the Sea of Japan. The resort also boasts a wide variety of slopes, including a 4km long course, an ungroomed course with steep slopes, a beginner's course perfect for kids on their first ski trip, and a Smile Kids Park just for little ones
Cupid Valley has just opened its first tree run course. The open area is as shown here.
The yellow part of this map is the area where tree running is permitted at your own risk. On both sides of the 1000m second quad lift that leads to the top of the slope at an altitude of 920m, roughly half of the forest area from the top is now open for skiing.
As you can see from the course map, the two courses on either side of this new tree run area, La Mer and Marionette, are aimed at advanced skiers. In other words, the sections where you can enjoy tree runs have slopes and terrain suited to advanced skiers. If Joetsu powder piles up in this forest, you're sure to be able to enjoy some delightful powder tree runs.
Smile Resort, the operating company that developed another new tree run area in Yuzawa Nakazato in the 20-21 season, has fully utilized the know-how gained from that success to develop the tree run area at Cupid Valley. Following on from Yuzawa Nakazato, a new special spot for powder and tree enthusiasts has been born in Joetsu City.
