This anorak model from Arc'teryx, which was born in the extremely cold and snowy mountains of Canada, is recommended this season in the freeride category. Although he pretends to be relaxed, he is serious about sliding. This is the first place to push the rider's style from the outside to the inside.

High-performance anorak is finally updated

Arc'teryx is a mountain gear brand born in the Coast Mountains on the humid and snowy west coast of Canada, North America. Because its weather conditions are similar to those of the island nation of Japan, it is highly trusted by domestic climbers and guides.

Snow sportswear is divided into three categories, and users can choose the model that suits their style and style of play. The three are touring, freeride, and resort. The Saber series, which plays a central role in the freeride category, has an anorak model in its lineup this season. As the name suggests, it has a relaxed fit and is equipped with specs that allow you to be comfortable in all kinds of situations, such as lifting, riding, hiking, and resting.

The waterproof and breathable membrane uses Gore-Tex ePE, which is thin and lightweight. It won't get stuffy even when you move hard, and if you use the side zippers and pit zippers frequently, you can comfortably hike up. Since it can be used in a wide temperature range, it is a setup that can be worn for a long time throughout the season, from mid-winter to early spring.

The absence of the full-length main zipper, which is a characteristic of anorak, on the front means that the functionality of the fabric can be utilized more effectively. In other words, while increasing waterproofness and breathability, it also reduces the stiffness of the waterproof zipper, helping to make it lighter and more compact. It also features a large-capacity kangaroo pocket, which serves as an accent to the design.

``When hiking, you can store your goggles, gloves, and beanie that you take off your body without having to take your backpack down. There's a mobile pocket on the inside, so you can carry your smartphone without any malfunction. It’s a pocket.”

Arc'teryx support rider Taiyo Nakanishi, who has lived a ski bum life in Arc'teryx's birthplace of Canada, is also fascinated by anoraks.

The outer fabric is made of thick 200 denier recycled nylon, which increases protection such as cold protection and abrasion resistance. It gives you a sense of security in any situation, whether it's on a snowdrift, on a lift, on a ridgeline, or on a tree run with dense trees. On the other hand, the ePE membrane is thin and flexible, so it doesn't feel stiff. The draping at the joints brings out your performance without hindering your body's movement during turns. In other words, it is important to choose a size that fits your body. Nakanishi describes the feeling of wearing it as follows.

``People who like a loose and wide silhouette tend to go up a size and lose their silhouette. However, this Saber Relax provides a beautiful wide silhouette at the appropriate size.''

The following features are common to both jackets and pants. The pocket uses a large capacity model with a gusset at the bottom. RFID passes for IC tickets are installed on the left shoulder and right hip, respectively. Built-in RECCO® reflector supports SEARCH & RESCUE overseas.

With a slightly unique setup that sets it apart from its rivals, it is the perfect choice for greedy skiers who want to seriously enjoy both the BC and the slopes.

Taiyo Nakanishi's impression

After living as a ski bum in Whistler, he has been based in Sapporo since 2008. My home mountain is Teine Highlands.
@taiyonakanishi's role in the video work "Lexicon" is still fresh in my memory.

If you open the side zipper, you can easily put on and take off. The thicker fabric improves wind resistance, and it also has resistance to abrasion caused by stubble and carriers, giving you an overall sense of security. On the other hand, the 3D cut makes it easy to move around, and the pit zipper and side zipper help reduce sweat and cold. Relaxed fit and wide, but beautifully cut to maintain your silhouette. I usually choose L size for pants only, but for this one, M size for top and bottom is OK. Recommended for people who occasionally go to BC but mainly want to enjoy skiing with lift access.

FEATURE

Side zipper that opens wide

A full-length triple-tab side zipper on the right side that can be opened and closed from either the top or bottom and a pit zipper on the left allow for free access to fresh air. It is also easy to put on and take off.

Thin and light membrane, C-KNIT lining

The lining uses C-KNIT Backer Technology. As the name suggests, by knitting thin threads, it reduces the cold feeling when worn, providing suppleness and comfort.

Kangaroo pocket with excellent storage capacity

Large gusseted kangaroo pocket that can be accessed from both sides. You can warm your hands and carry goggles and gloves in the air chamber, which transfers heat from your body. Equipped with a mobile pocket inside.

Tough and durable edge guard

A spray skirt is built into the hem of the pants to prevent wind and snow from penetrating your feet. The edge guard has the same color as the main fabric and is made of durable Keprotec fabric, providing a high degree of protection and a sense of security.
