The Telemark Ski Association of Japan (TAJ) and the Freeheel Project Executive Committee have announced the holding of the freeheel skiing event "Freeheel 2023." This event allows people to experience the charm of telemark skiing through test rides of new models and trial lessons
The event will be held at Ontake Ski Resort. First, there will be a two-day test ride event for next season's new models. Each manufacturer will set up a booth, and it will be an opportunity to try out Telemark skis and AT (Alpine Touring) ski-related products on the snow
A must-see for those who have never put on telemark skis before! There are plenty of programs for beginners, including "thematic lessons" taught by certified instructors of the Japan Telemark Ski Association, each focusing on their own specialty and technique, and a "one-day trial" that includes equipment rental and training. You can participate in as many as you like, so come experience the charm of telemark skiing
There will also be programs that intermediate and advanced skiers can enjoy. These include the "Pole Skiing Experience," where you can ski down the pole set used in alpine races, and "Let's Play with Step Soles," where you can play in the mountains and fields using skis with scale-like surfaces. TAJ-certified races will also be held, so you can watch advanced skiers skiing up close
