Season. by Eric Pollard

Eric Pollard, who has produced 18 signature models with his stylish riding, has an unparalleled presence in the freeski world in graphic arts and film making.

Eric, who has colored the scene as an icon of LINE SKI since the dawn of freeriding, left LINE and produced a new brand "Season Eqpt." with his buddy Austin. This season of '21₋22, the long-awaited release in Japan has attracted a lot of attention. Eric, who has been on good terms with the STEEP editorial department for some time, shot a video introducing hot products and brands at the Season Eqpt. office located at the foot of Mt. Hood in Oregon for STEEP users.

Let's start with what kind of brand Season is

This brand was created with the idea of merging the ski and snowboard communities. The product is also non-binary, that is, for everyone, regardless of gender.

As you can see, the graphics of the products are black only. I know I'm known for my graphics obsession, and I love art, but I still think this is great. I was able to pay attention to the details of the design and put some creative elements into it.

But I didn't put in a lot of graphics. Because I wanted to focus on the product lifespan.

One of the things the brand is trying to do is help people keep their equipment as long as possible. By doing so, less skis and boards end up in landfills, which is good for the environment and I think it's really worth it.

The most important thing is to keep it
simple.

There are about 40 models in the lineup of products of a normal brand, and we condensed it into 3 models.

The three we created are Aero, Nexus and Forma. Same name for skis and snowboards. Each one caters to different snow conditions.

The Aero is designed for hard to mixed soft and hard snow conditions, the Nexus is suitable for both hard and soft snow, and the Forma is designed with a soft snow focus.

"A concise offering of versatile shapes that transcend categories. This translates to better quality and an easier choice for our customers. These three models are the result of a lifelong exploration into shape, width, length, sidecut, flex, camber, and materials. "
-Eric

Forma

Playful and agile, shaped to plane in fresh snow.

It's the widest, and this is obviously an element for gaining buoyancy. This ski is designed specifically for playing in powder. It's short and surprising, but super fun. It performs really well in powder. As you can see the top shape, the entry rocker is more cambered and the swallow tail. The swallow tail makes it easier to get on the tail and changes the way the ski gets out of the powder, and the tail is stable and the top is easy to float. You don't have to consciously lift the top.

Nexus

For any and every day, designed to excel in all conditions
.

180/183 cm length and waist width 106 mm. The Aero is 180cm long and has a 96mm waist, so the Nexus is mid-fat. Nice combination of stability and maneuverability, just the right length and nice flex pattern.

The entry rocker on the Nexus is a lot more cambered than the Aero, but it's not too condition specific. So it won't wobble at the top when overcoming mobile tracks, and it won't be useless in hard snow. I can really skate in any conditions.

The Nexus is an almighty model good for all conditions. So if you don't want something specific, powder or hard snow, and you can't decide, go with the Nexus. The Nexus is really perfect for this case. If you want a ski that can do it all, go with the Nexus.

This is what we call a flag. As you can see, this concept comes from the colors of the sunrise and sunset of the day.

I tried different color versions. We really wanted to draw out and shape the experience we had spent in the mountains.

Anyone can have this kind of experience. I expressed the colors of sunrise and sunset on the flags that I put in products for everyone.

This is a portal. that's what we call it A portal represents a point of view. Did you notice this is an old film viewfinder.

Much of what our company has created is based on our experiences and perspectives in the mountains. I've been doing camerawork filmwork all my life and have been very influenced by that world. So with that in mind, the portal turned out like this.

This looks like a window facing outside. Put the subject in the angle of view through this. This is how users view sports like skiing and snowboarding. From our point of view, this is neither right nor wrong. Skiing and snowboarding are different for each, just come down the mountain as you like.

eqpt. in common

"I've skied and snowboarded most of my life. I definitely see the difference between the two worlds, but I also see the similarities."
- Eric

I've been skiing and snowboarding most of my life.
Of course you can see the differences between the two worlds, but you can also see the commonalities. - Eric

"One plank or two planks, it's up to you. If you find a three plank option that's cool too" - Austin

One board or two, it's up to you. If you can find a way to skate in threes, that's cool too. -AustinMore
