Setup by Yuta Miyazawa

Review of the entire setup

What kind of places and situations is this setup designed for?

It is designed to be able to do everything from the slopes to the backcountry, mainly tree runs, with just one bike.

Please tell me why you chose this setup.

I chose this board because it is lightweight and easy to handle, so I wanted to be able to cover compacted snow, powder, and park snow on the slopes, and cover everything from the high season to the backcountry in early spring.
The binding uses alpine binding, so you can firmly step on it in any situation. Although the weight increases when climbing, I also use Daymaker, which is strong when traversing.

ski impressions

Wapanskis TSUBAKI I L=180 cm|D=148-122-135mm|2022-23 model

What are your impressions of the performance and ride quality of this ski?

It is lightweight and has a center width of 122mm, and because of its rocker, it tends to be thought that it will flap around and make it difficult to carve. However, thanks to the stringer, it does not flap even at high speeds, and the camber at the foot makes it easy to carve. You can step on it with confidence as it won't go wild or the edges will come off.
Since the center is 122mm, it has buoyancy, and the nose is soft and the tail is stiff, so you can ride with confidence without falling backwards if you lose your balance, even in situations where you can easily feel the change in snow quality, such as from Gerepau to BC.

In addition to that, please let us know what you like about this ski, such as its design or other points.

I really like Wapan's cool design with its characteristic Japanese pattern, so people can talk to me on the slopes regardless of gender or age, and it looks good in photos, so I really like it!
I also like the way the color comes out when placed on the snow.

What kind of people is this ski recommended for?

Recommended for those who are riding fat skis for the first time or who want a board that can be used from the slopes to the backcountry.
It is also recommended for people who want to stand out in style!

boots impression

What are your impressions of the performance and comfort of these boots?

It doesn't collapse even when you put your weight on the tongue in powder, and it responds quickly even on hard burns, so you can ski in a neutral position even when carving or making big slide turns.

In addition to that, please tell us what you like about these boots, such as the design or one point.

I really like the moss green military color.

What kind of people do you think these boots are recommended for?

The shell is the same as alpine boots, so it is recommended for those who have been doing alpine skiing or those who are hard and have strong treads.

Binding impressions

LOOK Pivot 18|2022-23 model

What are your impressions of the performance and feel of this binding?

The force is quickly transmitted to the board, and it responds to instant movements. It is also resistant to twisting forces, so you can release it immediately in the event of a dangerous crash, and you can rest assured that there will be no accidental release.
The shorter heel piece plate and softer tail make it easier to press than other bindings.

In addition to that, please let us know what you like about this binding, such as its design or other points.

Pivot has a unique shape and comes in a variety of colors, so I like being able to choose one that matches the board!

What kind of people do you think this binding is recommended for?

Recommended for hard use such as park skiers and side country skiers.
It is also recommended for those who are worried about tour bindings but want to climb lightweight. (When using CAST)

Please tell me where to install the binding and why.

It is attached to the back 7.5cm from the center.
In order to perform a slide that seems to be thrusting in from the front, I do not go forward, but instead use the recommended center for "I" to maintain balance.
