NEW ski boots unveiled | Footwear brand “phaenom” is born

“phaenom” is a new brand that will appear in the 2023-24 season. Full Stack Supply, which handles FACTION, has released eight models in two categories, freeride and freeski, this winter. "Phenom" was created from a new mold after four years of research and development. Manufactured in Montebelluna, Italy, a town famous for its shoemakers, it pursues style, simplicity, comfort, and freeski performance.

All parts can be recycled

The all-black coloring encourages the restoration and reuse of the boots and other parts, so everything from the buckles to the straps and screws are made from recyclable materials from the design stage. In Europe, the idea of using renewable materials is strongly reflected in the production of products.

Distinctive 2 buckles and wide straps

First of all, looking at the appearance of the product, the characteristic features are "2 buckles" and "wide strap". There are now two buckles, making it easier to put on and take off, but you may be concerned about whether they will tighten properly. That's where a wide strap comes in handy. Many skaters replace the straps originally attached to their boots with a more elastic power belt such as BOOSTER, but with the wide strap of the Phaenom Strap, there is no need to do so. It has excellent shock absorption and flex control, providing consistent feel and repulsion throughout the turn. A strap that improves comfort and stability.

Carefully crafted inner boots

Not only has the shell mold been newly developed from scratch, but the inner boots are also made with great care. The inner sole is made of a hard material, providing solid stability without the need for a footbed that is normally installed inside the shell. In addition, a Phenom x LENZ insole is standard equipment, providing a better fit and stable comfort.

Tongue position adjustment function seen on alpine race models. It has features that many freeski models don't have. This allows the shoe to fit more closely to the angle of your ankle.

Furthermore, the Phenom's inner boots are of the shoelace type, and like the lace and basic competition models, you put on the inner boots first and then the shell. The Phenom boots themselves are targeted at advanced skiers and experts, so they are designed to handle high-level skiing. In addition to being sold as a set with the shell, the innerwear will also be sold separately. In fact, the riders who have tried the Phenom boots have said, ``I want to wear the Phenom just for the innerwear!'', so their ability is proven.

model lineup

The eight models released are divided into freeride (fr) and freeski (fs), and there are four types with different flexes. The difference between FR and FS is walk mode and the presence or absence of a tech insert. The FR is designed to be comfortable for climbing and to withstand high-speed descents. The shell is a 3-piece cabrio design with 2 buckles. The upper part of the cuff creates a hugging fit. The bottom of the shell has a last width of 102mm, which is comfortable even when worn for long periods of time.

The fr model comes in flex 100/110/120/130 and costs 107,800 yen. The fs model is 96,800 yen with flex 90/100/110/120. All prices are the same even if the flex is different.

Aunty Orilla and Ko Hoshino are highly praised by our riders.

Furthermore, famous riders including FACTION rider Antti Orilla are involved in the development of this boot. Fellow FACTION rider Koga Hoshino also gave high praise. He has actually used it on snow and praised it, saying, ``It gives a good sense of stability when landing.''

It has 2 buckles, so it's easy to tighten the buckle. Both the buckle and strap are thick and have a good hold, which I like. The shock absorption of the insole is very good, so you can stomp even on hard landings.

When I tighten the Phaenom strap, the flex becomes stiffer, and when I loosen it, the flex becomes looser, so I like how the flex changes depending on the adjustment. The simple all-black design doesn't make your feet stand out too much, and the good thing about it is that it goes well with any type of wear.

Koga Hoshino

At this winter's FACTION ski test ride event, we plan to unveil the Phenom test boots. With the arrival of a new new wave, be sure to check it out and get a feel for it.
