Introduction to Backcountry How to "Avalanche Backpack" by Lost Arrow Backcountry Ski Gear Experience Session

Skiing in the backcountry requires a variety of equipment in addition to the gear used at ski resorts.
As you step onto uncontrolled snowy mountains and have to climb in addition to sliding, it is essential to have some kind of equipment for winter mountain climbing, regardless of the time or location.

Therefore, we covered the ``Backcountry Ski Gear Experience Session'' held at the end of January, sponsored by Lost Arrow, which handles backcountry ski gear such as Black Diamond and Scarpa. We have prepared a collection of how-to videos for beginners in the backcountry, with excerpts from training courses on how to properly use and handle hike-up gear and avalanche gear. There are 10 video contents in total.

・Avalanche Backpack

This time it's an avalanche back.
We asked Mr. Hashimoto and Mr. Sakamoto of Lost Arrow to give a lecture on the Avalanche Backpack.
The content is divided into two parts. First, I will talk about the characteristics of the bag itself and how to store avalanche gear.

The other thing is how to wear an avalanche backpack and how to deploy a balloon. *The content introduced here is part of the course.

・Gear used in this video

Osprey/Soleden Pro E2 32

A backpack equipped with an electronic avalanche airbag. By updating from the AlprideE1 system to the AlprideE2 system, the compressor has been made 40% smaller, approximately 140g lighter, and the airbag capacity has increased from 150L to 162L. The electronic unit is a supercapacitor type, which has the advantage of requiring no maintenance during storage, unlike lithium-ion battery types. It is equipped with features specific to snowy mountains, such as a variety of ways to attach skis and snowboards, a helmet carry, and ski/snowboard attachment points.

Size is 56 x 32 x 27 cm (length x width x depth). The photo shows the balloon expanded. Weight is 1.14kg including Alpride.
The compressor is 40% smaller than the previous model, making it easier to store.
