Pro shop connoisseur 3 | 2020-21 season "I want you to use it anyway, BINDING that changes the slip"

The ski pro shop has been accumulating information over many years, including not only the latest materials every season, but also feedback from users who have actually purchased their products. In addition, most of the owners and staff are slippers, so they have a wealth of specialized knowledge and experience.

Therefore, he is good at evaluating and reviewing products from multiple perspectives and comparing and examining numerous brands across the board. Therefore, this time, we asked pro shop connoisseurs to recommend bindings that they would like you to try. The reason for this is that bindings can change the way you slide and raise the level of your riding performance.

This time, in addition to the "bindings that I want you to try anyway", what are the important points to ask customers at the store and make suggestions? I was told.

ATOMIC |SHIFT MNC13

Recommend: Ishii Sports Sapporo

I myself have used the SHIFT for two seasons, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is unsatisfied with the gliding performance of a pin binding or is concerned about its stability. The sense of security that the toe piece is firmly fixed is the best for experienced racers, those who ski with power, and skiers who can tilt their body axis. This year, the color is also all black, and it has a high-end feeling.

MARKER |DUKE PT16

DIN = 6-16
Weight=1350g

I would like to introduce another one.
The sense of security you feel from the moment you put it on gives you confidence
Manager Fujisawa again

MARKER |DUKE PT16

Recommend: Ishii Sports Sapporo Store This is an item that we would like you to try. A completely new binding created by combining the marker DUKE, which has opened up the history of backcountry freeride skiing, with pin technology. Demonstrates reliable holding power and resilience while drawing out 100% of ski performance. It is the emergence of a high-performance binding that combines the function of a safety binding that maximizes the protection of the skier with high release performance in the event of a fall, and the light walking performance of the pin technology.

The sense of security that you can feel from the moment you put it on must give the rider confidence. It will be an indispensable binding for riders who enjoy the snowy mountains aggressively and coolly.

MARKER |KINGPIN13

Recommend: TRUNKBASE last year's "KINGPIN". The toe piece spring has been changed from 3 to 1 to make it lighter. KINGPIN is excellent in lightness and has a good hold balance of boots, so it can be used widely from slopes to backcountry fields. It is recommended for skiers who are looking for gliding performance with tech binding and want to make it as light as possible.

 The point of choosing bindings!

When choosing bindings at a shop, it is important what the customer focuses on when choosing tools. The important point

and I think that the color of the binding, the shape, and the match the situation of slipping and cover the points that customers value.

ARMADA |N SHIFT MNC 13

Weight=1730g

High performance and safety Binding that balances sliding and walking
Manager

ARMADA |N SHIFT MNC 13

Recommend: SKI SHOP Vail A binding that balances sliding and walking. When walking, it is as comfortable as other tech bindings, and when gliding, it uses the same system as Alpine bindings to hold the boot, so it has high gliding performance and safety.

There is no release value for normal tech binding toe pieces, but SHIFT has a release value, so skiers who use it on the slopes can use it with confidence. It is easy to operate and easy to use.

 The point of choosing bindings!

We often recommend bindings based on how long you will be walking. For example, if it takes about an hour or two after getting off the lift, we recommend skis with high sliding performance and safety so that you can enjoy the same skis even after you return to the slopes.

Many tech bindings have no release value on the toe piece, so many people feel uneasy about releasing. When considering safety when skiing, we often recommend products with the same safety performance as alpine bindings, such as "MARKER TOUR F12" and "TYROLIA AMBITION", which have been in the lineup for a long time.

Even so, if you don't want to sacrifice "walking", we recommend bindings such as SHIFT, "TECTON", and "DUKE PT" that ensure safety when skiing.

FRITSCHI|TECTON12

Really easy to climb. Still not betray the slip

FRITSCHI|TECTON12

Recommend: Ishii Sports Shinjuku Nishiguchi store "I want you to try it anyway", so I thought about this year's hot topic "DUKE PT!!" The binding I recommend is " FRITSCHI TECTON12".

The toe piece uses the PIN Tech system, and the heel piece is a binding designed to hold down the edge of the boot. It means that the weight balance is almost even!

where are the benefits? I think there are a lot of skiers out there who don't want to compromise their skiing performance even if they choose a hard climbing line. I am also one of them. This binding has a light heel even when the board is carried on the rucksack, so the tail swings to the left and right is considerably less. It's especially useful when climbing a steep slope with an ax stuck in the snow. An unstable balance creates a sense of fear... Really easy to climb! Still, it does not betray slippage. It is such a binding.

The point of choosing bindings!

To be honest, I also have the most trouble with choosing bindings in choosing tools. In the past, I've been worried about it for three months and ended up failing (laughs). The following two points are important to me when choosing bindings.

① What style of mountain skiing do you want to do with the skis and boots you choose this time?
What kind of challenge do you want to take? ②Are you keeping the total balance of skis, boots, and bindings?

As for ①, it is difficult for people who are just starting mountain skiing to imagine.
However, please do your best here and make full use of the web, paper media, media information, advice from acquaintances, etc., and expand your imagination!
For me, choosing skis and bindings is almost the same as buying a car. Because it is a partner who will share the mountain for many years. If you envision yourself in the future and communicate your vision to the staff, you will be less likely to fail. VISION is pretty important yo!

Regarding ②, "Is the total balance of the equipment in place?" Of course, there are exceptions depending on the physical strength of the skater and the style you are aiming for, but I value the balance between boots and bindings.

Lightweight touring skis weighing around 1kg are an exception, but other skis (approximately 1.4kg or more) can be combined as you like. At that time, the key is the weight and sole shape of the boot.

The boots are heavy, and the ALPENSOLE GRIPWALK boots have excellent operability and power transmission. Various patterns can be assembled for compatibility with bindings. For those who walk steadily, the PINTEC type can be used, and for those who want a masculinity setting, you can use the “MARKER DUKE + DUKEPT” or the “MARKER JESTER + DAYMAKER” for a cool setting.

Conversely, for light type boots (approximately 1.5 kg or less), the PINTEC type is recommended because the feeling of sliding rigidity is weak.

When I ski with light boots and skis with frame bindings, I feel uncomfortable because the movement of the board and the boots do not match. Finally, it goes without saying that skis “flex”. If you want to make the most of the board's flexibility, you can choose separate bindings ("DUKEPT SHIFT", etc.),
and if you want to add strength to the board's flexibility, you can choose frame bindings like "MARKER DUKE". Depending on the bindings you use, the taste of the ski will change considerably, so it's a good idea to consider the change in deflection when choosing.

DYNAFIT|ST ROTATION 12

DIN=5-12
Weight=605g
¥66,000 + tax

Light, strong, cheap, the perfect tech binding
Staff
Wasshi

DYNAFIT|ST ROTATION 12

Recommend: BLACKDIAMOND Light, strong, cheap, the perfect all-in-one tech binding. It has received TUV safety certification, and there are no complaints in terms of safety, and it is an excellent product that automatically adjusts the center position of the toe piece when climbing, so you can reduce the consumption of physical strength even on long climbs.

It is recommended not only for those who use tech bins for the first time, but also for those skiers who do not want to compromise on uphill and downhill.

 The point of choosing bindings!

I think the important points for customers (skiers) when choosing bindings are: ( 1) lightness, (2) holding power, (3) price, and (4) ease Which of these four points to choose depends on the customer.

There are a wide variety of people, from those who already have their own gear, to those who don't know what kind of skiing they want to do. During communication with customers who visited the store, what kind of skiing are you currently doing and what do you want to do in the future? Bindings serve as a "connector" between skis and boots, and we ask them to choose the ones that are compatible with both, as well as the compatibility with the user.

Light, sturdy, cheap and easy to use. I try to select gear that customers will smile when they come back to the store and say, "I like this binding!"

▲ A powerful 28-second video that says, “Trust in this binding!”

If you want or are interested in bindings, why not visit the shop that was recommended and try them out or contact them?
(Clicking on the shop name will take you to the SKI PRO SHOP page in STEEP.)
I'm sure they'll talk more passionately about its appeal.
