Skiing and snowboarding aren't the only fun things to do in a snowy mountain. One of the attractions is the delicious ``gere food'' that you can enjoy on the slopes. Combining this with the needs of ``I want to know about unknown local ski resorts in Hokkaido,'' which was expressed in many opinions in the STEEP reader survey, the STEEP editorial department made an offer to the person who is perfect for this topic.
That person is Yuki Espe, who travels to ski resorts all over the country and loves skiing. He visits ski resorts all over the country, eats many types of gele food, and posts them on social media. In 2023, he will also appear on terrestrial TV programs, and his influence is expanding. This time, we visited 100 of Hokkaido's most representative ski resorts and picked out 8 dishes carefully selected by ``gere food professionals.''
Hello!
This is Yuki Espe! We are active in taking pictures and disseminating local information in snowy mountains all over Japan.
But these days, I wonder if people are skating just to get food? It is suspected that The day before I was writing this article, at the ski resort, I ate freshly baked apple pie at 10 o'clock, ate hot pot fried udon at 12 o'clock, and ate rare cheesecake at 3 o'clock, but isn't that normal?
However, in 2024, I spent 6 weeks touring the ski resorts of Hokkaido! I've eaten Gele food from all over the country, so I'd like to introduce it to you all♪
Hokkaido food information
First, I would like to briefly talk about the food situation in Hokkaido.
Compared to Honshu, Hokkaido has far more small-scale ski slopes. Microwaves and hot water are generally available at rest areas and cafeterias, so many people bring their own meals. For this reason, there are many ski resorts that do not offer ski meals.
One of the joys of traveling to Hokkaido is discovering attractive restaurants that operate under such circumstances.
“Taraco Carbonara” is a delicious dish that belies the quality of gelatin food | Pirika Ski Resort
Pirika Ski Resort is said to have the best snow quality in the southern Hokkaido area. An efficient layout that lets you ski multiple courses with one long lift. It is relatively close to the crowded Niseko area, and has recently been attracting attention as a variation destination from Niseko.
Located in the center house, Kur Plaza Pirika, ``European Creative Cuisine Kamioka Dining'' . A popular local restaurant has relocated and opened this winter!
This time I ate "Taraco carbonara with Japanese squid and soft-boiled egg"
The quality is at a level that makes you want to go back even if you eat it in town.I don't usually eat cod roe, but this dish cured my aversion to eating cod roe. The atmosphere inside the restaurant and the service of the staff are wonderful, and it is a restaurant that blows away the common sense of gere food.
Cheap, fast and delicious! Looks great ◎|Snow Cruise Orns
Snow Cruise Orns has a beautiful view of diving into the sea. It is located in a location that is extremely easy to visit from Otaru City and Sapporo City, and the business hours of Gere Shoku are extremely long, from 11:00 to 21:00! Even after skiing at a nearby ski resort, I often visit just to have dinner.
The specialty of this restaurant is that it is all about providing cheap, quick and delicious food, which is what you would expect from a gore meal. It's also great that there are many items that look like "Wow!".
Particularly recommended are ``Otaru Ankake Yakisoba'' and ``Omucheese Rice .
There are many popular Ankake Yakisoba restaurants in the Otaru city area, but at this price, this flavor is at a level that makes it one of the most popular shops in the city! It's often sold out, so be sure to try it if you see it! The omelette cheese rice has a delicious fluffy egg and is served quickly, so it's a dish I often order on days when I want to have a good time.
My favorite is kakiage made with seasonal vegetables! |Kita-Naganuma Ski Resort
Kitanaganuma Ski Resort is located on the east side of Sapporo City. The slope is wide and has good visibility, so it is especially recommended for beginners and families. There was always a blizzard when I visited, but this year it was clear and sunny and the conditions were perfect, even the edges were chewing!
The recommended gele food here ``Maoi Vegetable Tempura Soba'' .
I was wondering what Maoi was, but when I looked it up, I found out that it has a meaning similar to "a place where the hamanasu fruit is found or blooms" in the Ainu language. In other words, there is also a roadside station called ``Maoi no Oka Park'' in Naganuma Town, which is the same name as the ski resort.
This dish is topped with kakiage made with plenty of seasonal vegetables. Well...it has to be delicious! This is my favorite gelato food that I eat every time I ski at Kitanaganuma Ski Resort ♪
Powder snow for snowy food|Akan Lakeside Ski Resort
A ski resort located on the shores of Lake Akan, famous for its marimo, which is designated under the Ramsar Convention. It is a beautiful place overlooking frozen Lake Akan. It is located inland in the eastern Hokkaido area, which has a high rate of sunny skies and is cold, and the course is maintained using snow machines starting in November every year, so the business period is stable. Alpine competitions and certification sessions are also frequently held here.
The recommended gele food here is... or rather, the recommended restaurant is "Powder Snow". This doesn't mean you should eat fresh snow! This is the store name. This is a popular restaurant that supports the food at Lake Akan Ski Resort, which has a long operating period.
This time we will introduce "Yakiniku-don" , but you can eat whatever you want! The old man's personality, the lively atmosphere of the restaurant, the way he cooks, and the snowy scenery. Your expectations will skyrocket by the time it's served, and you'll be happy with the taste that doesn't disappoint.
If you want to enjoy high-cost, gelato food|Kitami Wakamatsu Citizen Ski Resort
Kitami Wakamatsu Citizen Ski Resort is located close to downtown Kitami in eastern Hokkaido. With one lift, three courses, and a compact slope, you can enjoy crisp, well-leveled terrain. The snow is hard enough to support my weight and is recommended for people who love carving.
There is a nostalgic automatic cotton candy machine that is popular.
The gale food we will be introducing this time ``Zantaredon'' from ``Restaurant Wakamatsu'' .
The price is 700 yen! There is a wave of rising prices in the food industry, but this one's cost performance is so high that I'm worried that it's not riding the wave. Freshly fried zangi, shredded cabbage, etc. are placed on top of the rice, and the mayo coating creates an appealing visual. The seasoning of Zangi is also excellent♪
An exquisite bowl that will delight ramen lovers|Piyashiri Ski Resort
Piyashiri Ski Resort is located in the Hokkaido area and is said to have the best snow quality in Japan. An all-inclusive package that includes light fresh snow, snowy scenery from northern Hokkaido, special gelet food, and hot springs. This is a ski slope that even people from far away should definitely visit.
Gele meals are served at the restaurant in the center house. The recommended dish the ``Tokumori Charshu Men'' .
The extra portion is the char siu, which is a meaty dish, but other than that, the portions are normal. It is also possible to order a large serving of noodles, so you can also order a “large serving of special pork chashu noodles”! There are three flavors: miso, salt, and soy sauce, and the soup and chashu are all made in the kitchen. I eat more than 100 bowls of ramen a year, but the ramen here is right in the middle of both my taste and appearance.
At the end
What did you all think of this article?
Of course, the appeal of the ski slopes is the snow, but even if the weather turns bad, it's nice to have other attractions like eating on the slopes. Personally, I love eating beer while watching a snowstorm♪
We also introduce Gere Shoku from all over Japan on SNS and YouTube, so if you are interested, please take a look.
