Amami Oshima was registered as a World Natural Heritage Site in July 2021. An EV charging stand donation ceremony was held in Uken Village, located in the southwestern part of the city, in collaboration with the Japanese version of National Geographic and Jeep. Taking this opportunity, I visited Amami Oshima in a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk 4xe to hear about the village's mangrove restoration project, which has been going on for six years.
