ーーWhy did you choose Revelstoke?
“At the beginning of the season, Revelstoke came to mind as a place where it snowed on a scale not seen in Japan. When I was 19 years old, when I was confined to Whistler, I didn’t even know the name of Revelstoke. Yu Sasaki was a big part of the reason I learned about him.When I saw his YouTube , I thought, ``This is the best.''
Also, local snowboarder friends Aya Sato and Kubota Kubota , I heard from Hiroki Hoshi that ``The conditions are great from the beginning of the season,'' and I thought I'd like to go there.At first, I was thinking of training for the FWQ FINAL (current name: FWT CHALLENGER). However, when I told Mr. Zizor, who was filming the video last summer, about going to Revelstoke, he became enthusiastic, so we decided to go together.”
ーーWhy did you limit the period to one month in December?
“January is the peak of the mountains in Minamiuonuma, so I want to move a lot for shooting.I’m sure there will be a lot of people who want to shoot Jizo-san. One month in a month was just right.”
ーーHow did you feel after skating Revelstoke?
“If you ask me if the mountain is suitable for photography, it is not. Even if you do, the competition is high. When I came back to the ishiuchi on the home slope, my senses were messed up, and the slope I usually skied felt loose.

The north area was excluded from the shooting spots due to the lack of sunlight, but it is said that they searched repeatedly to see if there was anything they could do.

ーーTell us about the video. Did you go to the site with an image in advance?
“While I was in Japan, I had a lot of meetings with Mr. Jizo. It felt like the opening would start with cutting the window frame of an airplane, and even after entering Revelstoke on December 3rd, things were going well, and I was crushing the list of materials I had in mind one by one, such as shooting the scene that jumps into the air. world.
But unexpectedly there was no snow in Revelstoke. From December 3rd to December 24th, there was only one heavy snowfall, and from around the 20th, the temperature dropped to nearly minus 30 degrees Celsius, and the lifts were closed. I couldn't even climb the mountain. It turned out to be difficult to create the image that I envisioned at first, but it finally snowed after Christmas, and I feel like I managed to make up for it in the remaining week.”

ーーYou managed to finish it well.
“To be honest, I was only able to capture about 20% of the taste I had in mind.Most of the riding footage was shot during the week starting on the 24th. I was able to do it because I looked around and pinpointed the notable spots.Since it was snowing, I was able to take 3 or 4 shots a day.On the
final day, I persisted until 18:00 when the ski resort ended and it got dark. That's why we called the Cliff in the first cut, "Z Cliff", and it's frustrating that we just tried that and it ended."
ーーPlease tell us about your plans after this.
“Right now, the FACTION team from the United States has come to the Yuzawa Minakami area, so I will be working with them on filming until the 20th. CHALLENGER) and it feels like Europe.When I go to Europe, I like Candid, so I'd like to try skating on his home slope, La Crusa."

Revelstoke is usually in powder condition from the beginning of the season due to abundant snowfall from December. For some reason, there was almost no snowfall this year, and if you want fresh snow conditions, you have to go to the backcountry area.
Yu Sasaki, who lives in the area, said, "It may be the first time that it didn't snow so much in Revelstoke in December."
Even so, we filmed in the conditions we could at the time, and Koga Hoshino's speedy riding was fully expressed on an overseas scale.
