Topics from the brands featured on the 26th and 27th

Life Riddim's 26-27 collection will be based on three pillars: the "Catfish" series, which refines the classic outline; and the "NAWA" hand-built model, which offers ultimate personalization

The versatile "Catfish 1485" is perfect for exploring snowy mountains

The flagship model at the core of the domestically produced original powder shape "Catfish." Designed to traverse every slope of the mountain, from freeriding and powder to mellow cruising. While inheriting the lineage of the base Cat134, it features a pintail and a narrower waist, dramatically improving its adaptability to various snow conditions

In terms of specifications, it has a total length of 1485mm, a waist of 267mm, a nose of 299mm, and a tail of 287mm. The bottom shape, with a camber 2 and front rocker, combined with a bold 360mm setback, achieves both overwhelming buoyancy in deep powder and powerful stability in the latter half of turns

At its heart lies an original bamboo x wood mix core. The unique rebound of bamboo and the resilience of wood create an exquisite balance. The base is made of high-density P-TEX 5900 graphite, delivering uncompromising gliding performance from spring's sticky snow to the dry powder of mid-winter. This board is a reliable one that you can trust and push with in any situation

The "Catfish 1465" is a short, fat lure designed for agility

The "Catfish 1465" is a resized version of the flagship 1485 model, featuring a tighter and more compact design. While primarily targeted at lightweight male and female riders, it's not simply a scaled-down version. With a length of 1465mm, waist of 248mm, nose of 290mm, and tail of 279mm, its short and fat outline truly shines in Japan's tight tree runs and undulating stream terrain

Its greatest strength is its agility and maneuverability. With a stance width of 440-520mm and an edge length of 1110mm, combined with a softly adjusted flex, the board can be intuitively controlled even when taking precise lines. While ensuring sufficient buoyancy, its "easy-to-handle size" for everyday cruising on the slopes is a major advantage

On the other hand, because of its shorter length, there are times when precise weight control by the rider is required, especially on rough slopes or at high speeds in deep powder. Rather than relying entirely on the board, it's a cruiser that allows you to fully enjoy the manual feel of controlling it with your own feet, making it a favorite among experienced riders

The "NAWA 1605" is a custom build overflowing with intense individuality and the spirit of craftsmanship

The "NAWA 1605," a modern revival of a legendary model, is a symbol of Life Riddim's proud hand-built custom order line. It is fully built by builder Shingo "420" Takahashi at Ht-craft in Gunma Prefecture. Isamu Nishiyama himself was in charge of the design and prototype testing, making this a guitar that embodies the uncompromising collaboration between the two

Its most distinctive feature is the unique bottom shape, "High Tribe Rocker," which transitions from flat to nose rocker. Combined with a large 9000 side curve, it delivers exhilarating acceleration at high speeds and a weightless, flowing feel. The core uses a special wood core blended with cypress and bamboo stringers, maximizing the flavor of locally sourced wood

The ability to order from two types of flex, regular and soft, to suit the rider's leg strength and preference is a luxury unique to custom builds. A strong individuality and the spirit of the craftsman that you can never experience with mass-produced items. The ultimate high-speed powder gun that you can enjoy even in the time it takes to acquire it

The roots of Life Riddim

Life Riddim is a side label launched in 2022 by Isamu Nishiyama, who has long been a leading figure in the scene as the director of OUTFLOWSnowboards, as a new platform for expression

Turning its back on the modern snowboard industry's focus on mass production and efficiency, this brand champions a thoroughly "craftsman-like board making" philosophy. Centered around its original domestic powder shapes, it pursues buoyancy in powder, maneuverability, and a pure cruising feel to the extreme

What's particularly noteworthy is their commitment to using carefully selected, locally sourced timber from within Japan. This approach, which preserves the unique characteristics of the wood and incorporates them into the board's flex and torsion, directly conveys the craftsman's spirit to the soles of your feet

The "Hand-Built Custom Order Line," launched in recent years, can be seen as the culmination of this philosophy. The meticulous finishing by skilled builders strongly reflects the style and preferences of each rider. Rather than being easy to understand for everyone, these are tools for carving your own lines in deep snow. Life Riddim is a brand that reminds us of the fundamental joy of snowboarding
