Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, one of Hokkaido's largest snow resorts, will be running its "Adventure Mountain" ski area again this year from December 22, 2025 to March 31, 2026, to stimulate children's curiosity and allow them to improve their skiing skills naturally while playing in a role-playing game-like environment

What is "Adventure Mountain"?

As the world's only story-based family slope, this ski area puts children at the center of a special story. Take on 11 missions to thwart the ambitions of Chokkari Daimajin, who is plotting to cut down trees in the forest and create a slope that makes it easier to ski straight downhill (chokkari). By completing these missions, you can help Nipo, the forest fairy, and protect the forest. Each time you complete an item, you will receive one letter of the spell to recite to defeat Chokkari Daimajin!
Feature 1: "Enjoy yourself and improve before you know it" Visualization of the mechanism

Behind this unique story lies a theoretical basis that will ensure you improve while having fun. The theory used here is "affordance theory." Affordance is the way of thinking that describes the actions that objects and environments encourage and enable in people.
In skiing, affordances include the condition of the course, the slope, speed, the placement and shape of items, the quality of the snow, the equipment used, and even the presence of your companions. The key to improvement is to sense these elements and choose runs that suit each one.
The official Tomamu website also has a special page that carefully explains what kind of "mechanisms for improvement" are hidden in each mission that incorporates affordance theory. By adults understanding the mechanisms in advance, they can watch over their children's growth with ease and without rushing
Feature 2: The final mission, "Special Stage," tests your overall strength

The "Special Stage" combines elements from all the items at Adventure Mountain, requiring comprehensive skiing skills.
These include the "Seesaw Bridge," which requires precise speed control and a sense of balance; the "Bell Bell," where you slide down while ringing a bell attached to a tube ring; the "Chokkari Wave Z," where you accelerate your skis by using vertical motion; and the "Challenge Jump," where you muster up the courage to jump. These special courses are sure to challenge you, requiring not only skiing skills but also a sense of adventure and challenge. Be sure to give these courses a try, packed with excitement and thrills.
