The world's only story-based family slope, "Adventure Mountain," is now open! | Hoshino Resorts Tomamu

Help the forest fairy "Nipo" and take part in the story of protecting the forest. Your skiing will improve naturally

Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, one of Hokkaido's largest snow resorts, will be running its "Adventure Mountain" ski area again this year from December 22, 2025 to March 31, 2026, to stimulate children's curiosity and allow them to improve their skiing skills naturally while playing in a role-playing game-like environment

What is "Adventure Mountain"?

As the world's only story-based family slope, this ski area puts children at the center of a special story. Take on 11 missions to thwart the ambitions of Chokkari Daimajin, who is plotting to cut down trees in the forest and create a slope that makes it easier to ski straight downhill (chokkari). By completing these missions, you can help Nipo, the forest fairy, and protect the forest. Each time you complete an item, you will receive one letter of the spell to recite to defeat Chokkari Daimajin!

Feature 1: "Enjoy yourself and improve before you know it" Visualization of the mechanism

Behind the unique story lies a theoretical foundation that allows you to improve your skills while having fun. This is where "affordance theory" comes into play. Affordance refers to the idea of what actions objects and environments encourage and what they enable in people.
In skiing, affordances include the course conditions, slope, speed, placement and shape of features, snow quality, the equipment used, and even the presence of skiing companions. Sensing these elements and choosing the appropriate skiing style for each is the key to improvement.

The official Tomamu website also has a special page that carefully explains what kind of "mechanisms for improvement" are hidden in each mission that incorporates affordance theory. By adults understanding the mechanisms in advance, they can watch over their children's growth with ease and without rushing

Feature 2: The final mission, "Special Stage," tests your overall strength

The "Special Stage," which brings together elements from all the Adventure Mountain features, demands comprehensive skiing skills.
From the "Seesaw Bridge," which requires precise speed control and balance, to "Bell Bell," where you ski while ringing bells attached to the rings of a tube, to "Chokkari Wave Z," where you accelerate your skis by using up-and-down movements, and to the "Challenge Jump," which requires courage to leap over, these features demand not only skiing skills but also a sense of adventure and a willingness to take on challenges. Be sure to try this special course filled with excitement and thrills.
