Legendary rider Phil Casabon, who has his own signature Armada model, the B-Dog, is affectionately known as "B-Dog," and is an icon of freeskiing, known for his unique style and creative expression, leaving behind countless memorable videos
Together with Henrik Harlaut, they formed the duo "B&E" and have dominated the freeskiing scene. While his partner Henrik Harlaut continues to be active in competitions such as the XGames, Phil Casaubon has never competed in competitions, instead making a name for himself solely in the world of video and attracting followers from all over the world
Hosted and judged by street film master Phil Casaubon
Phil Casavon, who has been at the forefront of street videography for over 10 years and has gained worldwide recognition, is currently hosting the "B-DOG OFF THE LEASH ONLINE VIDEO CONTEST," a street riding video contest. This
contest, which started last year and is now in its second year, allows participants to submit videos up to 90 seconds in length. By creating their best street riding video and submitting it online, it will be made publicly available on B-Dog's YouTube channel. The video with the most views as of November 28th will receive a $5,000 prize directly from B-Dog. In addition to street riding skills, the quality of the video and the music will also be judged, and the video chosen as B-Dog's favorite will receive the "Golden Dog Award."
Submitted works are now open to the public; Hoshino Kouga and Ishida Takuya have also entered from Japan!
Video entries closed on November 1st, and the videos have been available on B-Dog's YouTube channel @casablunt since November 3rd. Two riders from Japan have also entered, showcasing their best video works.
The first is Koga Hoshino. His achievements, including a second-place finish at FWQ HAKUBA 3-Star, and his unique riding style have attracted attention, especially among snow park users, and his riding has been highly praised by the Canadian ski web media "NEW SCHOOLERS." STEEP has also previously published an interview with him
Here's the video of this entry
The other rider is Ishida Takuya. He is known for his jib trick technique and flowing riding style. He has a long history of street photography and works in perfect harmony with his filming partner, Kurata Daisuke (Sideshow). Check out the video of his entry here
Receiving recognition from Phil Casaubon carries more status than just the prize money
This contest offers great hope and inspiration to skiers. Participants have the chance to have their skiing skills, style, creativity, and artistry directly evaluated by Phil Casavon, and the status of being recognized by Phil is far more valuable than the $5,000 prize money. Here are some other points to note: - While
there is also a video contest called Real X Games, the "B-DOG OFF THE LEASH ONLINE VIDEO CONTEST" is rider-centric and open to a wide range of people, making it highly popular among core skiers.
- The participating skiers are diverse, ranging from amateurs to top-level skiers and even legends.
- High scores are not necessarily awarded for performing difficult tricks; rather, the overall style of each individual, including video editing, music, filming style, compositional balance, and the lifestyle conveyed by the rider, is evaluated, which gives it a different appeal from other contests.
Let's keep an eye on the contest, including cheering on the two Japanese riders.
