Finally for snowboarding! The next-generation BOA "H5" has been announced, allowing for fine adjustments in both tightening and loosening directions

This year marks the 25th anniversary since the first BOA-equipped snowboard boots were released in 2001. BOA Technology, a company that continues to lead the way in fit systems, has announced the next-generation system that snowboarders have been eagerly awaiting: the "H5 Dial Platform."

The "tightening and loosening" fine-tuning function, which has been proven in models for other categories such as cycling and alpine skiing, will finally be incorporated into snowboard boots for the first time

Five innovative advancements in the "H5 Dial Platform"

It's now possible to "loosen" the laces in increments of a fraction of a millimeter without releasing them completely

With conventional systems (such as the H4), if you wanted to slightly loosen the fit, you had to pop up the dial to completely release the tension on the laces and then tighten them again from the beginning

However, with the newly developed "H5," you can make fine adjustments in increments of a fraction of a millimeter simply by turning the dial in the opposite direction (counterclockwise) while maintaining tension. This makes making slight adjustments to the fit while sliding dramatically less stressful

"Symmetrical operation" that allows you to rotate intuitively without hesitation

A symmetrical (mirror) interface is used to ensure that users won't get confused no matter where the dial is located on the boot. When tightening, if the dial is on the side, turn it "forward (towards the toe)"; if the dial is on the tongue (center), turn it "inward." To loosen, simply turn it in the opposite direction. This allows for consistent and intuitive operation on both the left and right boots

Even faster! Patented "Coiler Technology"

BOA's core technology, "Coiler Technology," which quickly retracts slack in the laces and significantly increases the speed of boot fastening, has also been updated for the H5. The improved Coiler in the H5 can retract the laces even faster than before, providing quicker support for getting ready to ski

Tough structure that absorbs shock & sleek, slim design

To withstand the harsh conditions of snowy mountains, it has evolved into a slim design with high durability. Furthermore, it employs a "bayonet (base) + cartridge system" design, so even if it receives a strong impact while skiing, the dial itself will detach, preventing serious damage. Even if it detaches, it can be quickly put back in place on the spot to fully restore its function

Of course, it is covered by the "BOA Lifetime Warranty," meaning it is guaranteed for the product's entire lifespan

Environmentally conscious sustainable design

In addition to improved performance, we've also strengthened our commitment to the global environment. Compared to previous models, we've reduced plastic usage by up to 13% and used 40% recycled materials

Power transmission improved by 4.5%! Synergistic effect with "BOA PerformFit Wrap"

Along with the release of the H5, the integration and expansion of the boot's upper construction technology, "BOA PerformFit Wrap," was also announced. This system uniformly wraps the entire foot, ankle, and lower leg with an independent panel structure

According to the latest research from BOA's Human Performance Research Lab (HPFL), the boots demonstrate scientific superiority, with up to 4.5% improvement in power transfer and up to 9% improvement in stability and control compared to conventional lace-up boots

By securely fixing the heel and reducing pressure points, it becomes possible to transmit the rider's intentions more sharply and directly to the board on all types of terrain, from the backcountry to the park and groomed slopes

Testimonies from top athletes

Technology presentation by BOA athlete Sage Kotsenburg

Top riders who have already conducted extensive testing have said:

"Whether you're aiming for a 60-foot jump in the park or enjoying a full day of freeriding in the backcountry, these boots offer an exceptional fit. Once you've dialed them in perfectly, you're ready to go."

Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, silver medalist at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics.

"The bidirectional dial is a groundbreaking feature for achieving a precise fit. The H5 truly represents the future of snowboard boot technology."

Snowboard boots from various brands, featuring this next-generation "H5 dial platform" and "BOA PerformFit Wrap," are scheduled to be rolled out sequentially starting from the 2026-27 season

The H5 eliminates the stress of having to fully loosen and retighten the boots, allowing you to instantly achieve a perfect fit down to the millimeter. It will undoubtedly become the new standard for boot selection next season
