World Environment Day is here again this year on June 5th

Did you know that June 5th is "World Environment Day," established by the United Nations?
With the theme "Only One Earth," it's an opportunity to consider the need to live in harmony with nature and sustainably, and to propose more environmentally friendly lifestyles.
Here's a video the UN is promoting for World Environment Day.

It's time for NATURE

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations to commemorate the "United Nations Conference on the Human Environment" held in Stockholm, Sweden, from June 5, 1972.
In Japan, "Environment Day" was established in the "Basic Environment Law" (1993), and since 1991, the month of June has been designated as "Environment Month" at the initiative of the Environment Agency, with various events held throughout the country.

On June 5th, 2022, the day of the event, the Ministry of the Environment will host a special green lighting event related to the environment, in cooperation with approximately 260 landmarks nationwide.
For example, in Tokyo, the lighting colors of skyscrapers and commercial facilities such as the Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Skytree®, and Roppongi Hills will change to "green," a color that evokes the image of the environment. After seeing this light-up, you can participate in environmental protection awareness activities by posting on social media with the hashtag "#EnvironmentDayGreen".

Incidentally, the STEEP editorial staff will also be taking part in the "Yukigoku CAMP Mountain Clean" event held at Maiko Resort on June 5th. (We will report on that event later.)

At STEEP, we launched a new channel called "THINK SNOW" in April, with the aim of thinking about and taking action on what we can do to protect our precious snow-covered mountains. Have you
checked it out yet? We hope you'll take an interest in it and take a look.
