Unify all tournaments under the FWT brand
From the "Freeride World Tour (FWT)", the world's highest international tournament that started in 1996, the schedule, name and logo of FWT23 to be held in 2023 have been announced.
FWT is a tour that decides the world's best "freeride" by skiing on natural terrain and competing in technique and style. Starting this season, the format of the tournament divisions has been revamped, and all tournaments held around the world have been unified under the FWT brand. As a result, the Freeride Junior Tour (FJT), a junior tournament for under-18s, has been changed to FWT JUNIOR, and the Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ), a qualifying tournament for players aged 18 and over, has been changed to FWT Qualifier. In addition, "FWT Challenger" has been added between the top FWT competition and Qualifier.
Players who have participated in the FWT Qualifier and achieved excellent results can challenge the FWT Challenger. In this category, the top players who won the Qualifier of each country and the players who did not meet the criteria for the seeded players of the following year in the FWT last season will compete for the next year's FWT participation. A total of six tournaments will be held in Europe and North America, three times each, to determine the players who will stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's top players in 2024.
A player's best 2 results out of the 3 FWT Challengers will be added to the final ranking. The top 4 ski men, top 2 ski women, top 2 snowboard men, and top 1 snowboard women from each region, totaling 18, will qualify for FWT24.
4* qualifying tournament also held in Hakuba
FWT Qualifier has four tournament levels from 1* to 4*, and players earn points according to the tournament level and ranking while competing in each tournament. In Japan, a 4* level tournament will be held in Hakuba.
