KAI Oku-Hida, located in Oku-Hida Onsen Village in Gifu Prefecture, which boasts one of the largest volumes of hot spring water in Japan, will host a winter-only experience called "Hida Tama no Yukiakari" (Light of the Snow in Hida Tama), where guests can relax in a special seat inside a kamakura, creating a snowy night glow created by the Gassho-style architecture from December 7, 2025 to March 23, 2026
This year, the second year of the event, in addition to the illumination of the original "Hidatama" lighting reminiscent of Gassho-style houses, a new "Snow-lit Kamakura" will be introduced. In the snowy scenery of Oku-Hida, a region with heavy snowfall, you can enjoy a relaxing time chatting with tea fermented in hot springs, hot whiskey, and "Hida Dagashi" sweets made using traditional methods that have been handed down for over 80 years
Feature 1: Illuminated by original Japanese lighting "Hida Tama" born from the Gassho-style architecture

The house is built in the "Gassho-zukuri" style, with a steeply sloping roof to make it easier for snow to fall off, a style unique to areas with heavy snowfall. "Hida Tama" lighting, inspired by this style, is placed in the courtyard to resemble a village
Located in the center of Tsuji Space, a square where public baths once stood and where people used to come and go, this courtyard is gently illuminated by the soft light of the Hida Tama wooden lanterns, illuminating the culture and memories of the Gassho-style village, where people have helped each other with things like re-thatching their roofs
Feature 2: Special seats inside the "Snow-lit Kamakura"

Inside the Gassho-zukuri style snow hut, you'll find a heated table (kotatsu) and warm, houndstooth-patterned lighting that showcases the unique woodworking techniques of Hida Takayama, a region renowned for its woodworking. The two-seater prime seats are bathed in orange light, creating a space about 5 degrees warmer than the outside air.
From inside, you can leisurely enjoy the snowy landscape, the steam rising from the Yunokawa hot spring, and the harmonious glow of the "Hida Tama" lamps.
Feature 3: Original drink "Hot Whisty" and Hida sweets

At "Yukiakari Kamakura," local drinks and sweets are also available. The "Hot Whisty," made by adding whiskey from the Hida Takayama Distillery to Hida black tea fermented in the hot springs of Okuhida Onsenkyo, is a drink that harmonizes the deep flavor of the tea with the rich aroma of the whiskey. It's a hot drink that will warm you from the inside out. The
sweets served with the drink are Hida Dagashi from Otowaya, a long-established shop in Hida Takayama that has been loved for generations. You can spend a relaxing time in the fantastical setting of a snowy night.
