Now in its 16th year, "Katte ni Garden" is a backyard-sized festival that values coexistence with nature, human connections, and human craftsmanship and hospitality. The venue is the backyard space of "Kiyotsu Lakeside Lodge" next to the Kagura Mitsumata Ski Resort in Minamiuonuma, Niigata Prefecture. In the backyard of the lodge surrounded by mountains and the Kiyotsu River, the idea is to enjoy the great outdoors in a way that is "free" and "at will," engaging all five senses in your own way.
The event will center around a craft market, with workshops designed to foster a sense of appreciation for things through handcrafting, healthy homemade meals, relaxation activities like yoga and massage, and unique performances and DJ sets by artists and creators
In addition to hammocks and slacklines, playing in the crystal clear Kiyotsu River that flows alongside is a huge hit every year! Another unique feature of the Satoyama area is that you can replenish your fluids at the spring water spot within the venue. You can cool down in the river and have fun without having to worry about heatstroke
In response to requests from participants, this year there will be accommodation within walking distance of the venue, as well as a campsite on a first-come, first-served basis. You can relax at the inn, or enjoy the starry sky in a tent. Nearby, there is also the convenient "Kaido no Yu" hot spring, which is open until 9pm and adjacent to the Mitsumata Roadside Station
What's more, admission and parking are free! It's only about 15-20 minutes by car or bus from the nearest interchange or station, so it's easy to get to and enjoy. Why not come and relax after a hot summer?
