On August 17, 2020, the Ski Association of Japan held a press conference at Japan Sport Olympic Square (Shinjuku, Tokyo) to discuss how the association is proceeding with training programs amid the COVID-19 pandemic and its efforts for the season ahead. Kentaro Minagawa (Executive Director, Head of Competitions, and Marketing and Public Relations Committee Chairman) explained the progress of training programs since the beginning of the year, future training policies, partnerships with medical institutions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and the outlook for branding domestic competitions. Akito Watanabe (Nordic Combined, photo right) and Masashi Onitsuka (Snowboard, photo left) also attended the press conference and shared their aspirations for the season
The All Japan Big Air (Ski/Snowboard) Championships are scheduled to be held at Jingu Gaien in December 2021
The Japan Ski Association aims to further commercialize the All Japan Championships for each sport, and is planning to hold a Big Air event at Jingu Gaien in order to secure independent funding without relying on grants or subsidies
