Yesterday (November 4th) saw cold temperatures across the country, with snowfall confirmed in various locations.
Sounkyo in Hokkaido saw 13 cm of snow, and Niseko also received much-awaited snow!
The 4th was a chilly day across the country, with snow falling in Hokkaido and mountainous areas along the Sea of Japan coast! Reports of snow arrived from all over, making the arrival of winter a reality. Just after 9:30 a.m., the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that the first cold wind of the year, "Kogarashi No. 1," had blown through central Tokyo, with a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 15.8 meters per second, the first cold wind in three years. 13cm of snow has fallen in Sounkyo, Hokkaido, and this morning (11/5) there was snow on Mt. Asahidake. The live camera at the Asahidake Ropeway shows poor visibility and a completely white sky. (Scroll down a little from the top of the website.)

Snow Town Yeti opened on Friday, October 30th, the earliest in Japan, followed by Karuizawa Prince Ski Resort on Tuesday, November 3rd.
