Snow has been falling mainly on the Sea of Japan side since the 14th, and snow accumulation is rapidly increasing along the mountains!
Hakuba Happo has suddenly accumulated 145cm of snow, and Kagura

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a winter-like atmospheric pressure pattern will begin on the 14th, with the strongest cold air of the season flowing into the sky. The effects of the cold air are expected to continue until the 17th, meaning
heavy snow is expected mainly along the Sea of Japan side from Hokkaido to the Chugoku region, as well as in the mountainous areas of northern Kanto, Nagano Prefecture, and Tokai.

Snowfall in the 24 hours leading up to the morning of the 16th is expected to be 90cm in Hokuriku, mainly along the mountains, 70cm in Tohoku, 60cm in the Kanto-Koshinetsu region, and 50cm in Hokkaido and Tokai.
Snow is expected to continue through the morning of the 17th, with 70-100cm of snowfall predicted in Hokuriku, 60-80cm in the Kanto-Koshinetsu region, 50-70cm in Tohoku, and 40-60cm in Hokkaido and Tokai.
