Patagonia Provisions introduces "Long Root Lager," a new beer that "repairs the planet" using organic ingredients and perennial grains. The "long root" used in this beer refers to kernza, a type of wheat characterized by its long roots and perennial nature. Kernza is a type of wheat, but it can be grown without pesticides and requires less water than conventional wheat. It helps restore damaged soil, absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere than annual grains, and its roots, which remain in the soil after harvest, decompose and sequester carbon in the soil. By cultivating kernza, partner farmers can sequester greenhouse gases in the soil and contribute to the regeneration of depleted topsoil

Patagonia released the world's first Long Root Pale Ale made with Kernza in 2016, and this "Long Root Lager" is the fifth product in the series. Finished in Helles, a traditional lager style originating in Munich, Germany, it has a crisp, refreshing taste. Compared to a Pilsner, it features a stronger malt flavor and less hop bitterness. Combined with the distinctive spicy flavor of Kernza, it's a light, low-alcohol beer perfect for the coming summer
It will be available at Patagonia stores first. It will be available on the Patagonia online store from mid-June. As it is a limited edition product, sales will end once stock runs out
To celebrate this launch, pop-up shops will be held at Patagonia Tokyo Shibuya from June 3rd (Sat) to 4th (Sun), andJune 10th(Sat) to11th(Sun). Why not try Patagonia Provisions' beer, made with environmentally innovative grains?
