On November 21, 2024, PIEPS announced a voluntary recall of its avalanche beacon, PIEPS Pro IPS, due to a potential contact problem in the battery box. In response to this, the recalled products will be collected in Japan and replaced free of charge with products that have been modified to address the defect
Recall affected models
The recall applies to all PIEPS Pro IPS avalanche beacons manufactured and sold between October 1, 2023 and November 22, 2024, with serial numbers in the first four digits range from 2326 to 2445. The serial number is located on a label inside the battery box cover (see photo)


The PIEPS Pro IPS was sold as a standalone avalanche beacon and as part of an avalanche safety kit. Product names, style numbers, and SKUs are as follows:

If you own a PEEPS Pro IPS, please stop using it immediately and request a recall.
In Japan, we will collect the affected products and replace them free of charge with products that have been corrected to address the defect.
