"Telemark skiing has begun at Katashina Kogen" Telemark skiing experience and test ride event held | Saturday, February 28th, 2026 and Sunday, March 1st, 2026 Katashina Kogen Ski Resort

For two days, on Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st, a trial event will be held at Katashina Kogen Ski Resort in Gunma Prefecture, where anyone who wants to try telemark skiing can easily participate. In addition, there will be a test ride event where you can try out rare models that you rarely get the chance to ride at regular test ride events

The event is a collaboration between Blue Morris, a long-established Japanese ski manufacturer founded in Aomori over 100 years ago, and Sports Manzoku, a Toyama-based specialty store that sells mountain climbing, skiing, and trail running equipment and aims to "support all mountain lovers."

While various ski brands offer skis for test rides, one that particularly stands out is the " NeoClassics Telemark Ski," an original model developed in collaboration with Blue Morris as part of the "Manzoku Original Thin Leather Telemark Ski Development Project, " which also has its own dedicated website. The brand concept is "old yet new."

This will be a rare opportunity to try out a model that specializes in the classic style of leather shoes, made from a niche category known as "thin leather" that is rarely produced by major manufacturers. Check out the video about the development behind the scenes before attending, and your enjoyment will be even greater

There will be one free one-hour trial lesson each day (free rentals available), and special lessons by guest riders are also planned. These are currently in preparation, so please keep an eye on the TAJ (Telemark Ski Association of Japan) social media for details
