"Tanigawadake" undergoes dramatic name change!
Speaking of Mount Tanigawa, it is one of Japan's most famous mountains, and has been selected as one of the "100 Famous Mountains of Japan." Its beautiful yet rugged mountain range continues to fascinate not only alpinists but also freeskiers and snowboarders. "Tanigawadake Tenjindaira Ski Resort by Hoshino Resorts" is a popular mountain ski resort for hardcore skiers who love powder skiing and backcountry skiing
The reason behind the dramatic name change of Tanigawadake to "Tanigawadake Yoch by Hoshino Resorts" for the 2024-2025 season was that the facility's previous name was not enough to fully appeal to guests about the appeal of Tanigawadake as a resort that Hoshino Resorts aims to achieve. The image of the wild and rugged mountain range since ancient times may have been somewhat at odds with the colorful character of the resort and the tourist content that allows visitors to feel close to nature
So the new name that was created was "Tanigawadake Yoch."
"Tanigawadake Yoch by Hoshino Resorts"
"Joch" is a German word meaning "saddle" or "saddle." A saddle is a depression in the terrain between mountains. The "Tenjin-daira" area, which is reached by taking the ropeway up, is located in a saddle on the slopes of Mount Tanigawa, and the name "Tanigawa-dake Joch" was chosen with the hope that people would feel a greater connection to Mount Tanigawa.
The graphics are colorfully depicted with motifs of things that can be enjoyed at Mount Tanigawa, such as seasonal colors and gourmet food, starry skies, snow and flowers, and the snow-covered Mount Tanigawa and the ropeway.
Just two hours from the Tokyo metropolitan area, you can take a walk in the air on a ropeway and lift to a different world at an altitude of 1,500m. A wide variety of mountain experiences await you at Tanigawadake Yoch, including observation decks, gourmet food, alpine plants, cycling, activities that children can enjoy, walking trails, and cultural experiences
This name change will undoubtedly be an action that will generate great momentum and effectiveness in order to promote the diverse charms of Mt. Tanigawa, such as its role as a familiar outdoor field where families can interact with nature, a relaxing space, and a mountain where activities other than mountain climbing can be enjoyed
And that's not the only name change
From now on, it will be called "Mt.T."
Surrounded by mountains over 2,000 meters high, Tanigawadake Tenjindaira Ski Resort boasts an overwhelming amount of snow and the finest powder snow, making it a popular powder field for powder lovers. Although there are only four lifts, the dynamic, undulating terrain has many challenging steep slopes, making for plenty of challenging skiing
This magnificent natural beauty, "The Ultimate Powder Field," will now be known as "Mt.T." There are many places around Mt.T that all start with the letter T, such as Tanigawadake, Tenjindai, Tajirizawa, and Takakurayama. The name "Mt.T" was chosen with the hope that it would be easy to remember for domestic skiers and snowboarders, as well as international guests who come in search of the finest powder snow, and that it would become more widely known
While spreading the appeal of Mt.T to the world, we are also taking safety measures such as installing beacon checkers and disseminating information on avalanche warning levels so that people can enjoy deep powder riding with peace of mind
