Each year, hundreds of thousands of skiers and snowboarders from around the world vote for each category, targeting ski resorts, hotels, travel agencies, etc. around the world. After the selection process, the award results for 2021 were announced on January 17, 2022. The award ceremony is held in Austria every year, but this time it was announced online.

Rusutsu Resort has won "Japan's Best Ski Resort" three years in a row in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and this is his fourth time in two years.
