The FULLTILT (FT) boot, a three-piece shell boot with a flexible structure that doesn't restrict ankle movement
, has remained virtually unchanged since its introduction to the market in 1981. Despite this, it continues to attract many enthusiasts worldwide, from skiers tackling the slopes of Alaska to Olympic medalists. This is a
testament to the effectiveness of this structure and the flex tongue.

Sammy Carlson joins the team. A signature model is born

A new face has joined FULLTILT. Sammy Carlson, who has achieved numerous excellent results at the X Games and continues to be featured in many media outlets even after leaving the competition scene, will have
his own signature model for the 2021 season. Designed for backcountry skiing, where he performs a variety of tricks and carves lines on any slope, his model is named "ASCENDANT SAMMY CARLSON" (SC abbreviated below) and has been incorporated into the ASCENDANT series. The
ASCENDANT series, which has been in the lineup since the 2019 season, is FULLTILT's long-awaited tech binding compatible boot.
This tour model, which does not compromise its greatest feature—skiing performance—has entered a new stage with the addition of Sammy Carlson, a rare and talented skier, to the team.
Differences and features of the two models in the Ascendant series
From here, let's take a look at Sammy's signature model, the "SC," and compare it with another model in the ASCENDANT series, the "APPROACH."

| SHELL | EVOLUTION TOUR |
| LAST | 102mm |
| LINER | PRO TOUR WRAP |
| FLEX | 10/120 |
| SHELL MATERIAL | TPU/GRILAMID TONGUE |
| SOLE | GRIP WALK |

| SHELL | EVOLUTION TOUR |
| LAST | 102mm |
| LINER | PRO TOUR TONGUE |
| FLEX | 10/120 |
| SHELL MATERIAL | TPU/GRILAMID SHELL & TONGUE |
| SOLE | MICHELIN/GRIP WALK |
The only visible differences are the power belt and inner boot, but the biggest difference is the shell material. The differences are indicated in red in the specs for both models

The "SC" uses a TPU shell and a lightweight Grilamid tongue. The "APPROACH" uses a TPU and Grilamid blend for the shell, and the tongue is also Grilamid, just like the "SC." TPU is durable enough to withstand hard falls and collisions, and is also thermoformable. The "APPROACH" makes extensive use of the lighter Grilamid material
Based on the characteristics of the shell material, it's clear that the "SC" focuses on aggressive gliding and lightness, while the "APPROACH" is specifically designed for lightness that allows for extended use.
The "SC" also boasts other features that enhance gliding performance.
The power belt is a "Cinch strap" which offers better hold than a regular strap and superior power transmission and durability. It's also easy to loosen with a rip cord, reducing the hassle when hiking uphill. The inner boot uses the "PRO TOUR WRAP," which is a step up from the Tour Flex.
Watching this video makes it immediately clear why Sammy chose the <FULLTILT>.
Review the lineup

The category overview remains largely unchanged from previous years.
In the "ALL-MOUNTAIN" category, the First Chair Series, with its 99mm last width and excellent power transfer, now features a new Flex 130.
The Descendant Series, with its highly comfortable 102mm last width, also introduces a new Flex 120.
In the "FREESTYLE" category, the signature series remain. Tom Wallisch's "TOM WALLISCH PRO" and Henrik Harlow & Phil Casavon's "B&E PRO" are noteworthy not only for their functionality that supports their respective performances, but also for their designs that reflect their intentions.
