Finally, the first full model change in 10 years - the new "UBAC" is here! |'25-26 ZAG

ZAG is a ski brand based in Chamonix, France. Thanks to its product development capabilities polished through the harsh terrain of the Mont Blanc Mountains, it has been responsible for high-performance skiing, mainly in the backcountry, and has gained strong trust from many mountain skiers, mainly in Europe.

The classic touring ski model "UBAC" developed by ZAG has finally undergone a full model change for the first time in 10 years.

The highly praised "intuitive operability" and "lightness to withstand climbing" have been firmly inherited. With this new feel and sliding stability added, UBAC has been reborn as a plant that can accommodate a wider range of snow and terrain than ever before.

Redesigned for edge grip and control

The new UBAC uses modest camber and a subdued rocker shape. This increases the overall feel of contact with the ski, allowing for stable skiing even on hard burns and highly variable snow surfaces. What's particularly noteworthy is the new flex balance. The feet are flexible, while the top and tail are firm and rigid, making the introduction of turns even smoother. The edges firmly capture the snow surface until the second half of the turn, achieving a highly responsive sliding.

The appeal is the peace of mind that you can trace the intended line without any shaking skiing, even in situations where there is a large change in slope.

New materials and structure make both lightweight and durable

UBAC 95 | D=129.5-95-114.5mm (173cm) | L=158, 166, 173, 178, 185cm | R=18m (173cm) | ¥105,000

The core material is a hybrid core from Poplar and Paulonia, which is also used in the brand's freeride model SLAP series. By combining the lightness of Paulonia with the suppleness of Poplar, it achieves a lightweight yet firm feel.

Furthermore, the top sheet uses a new material that is highly abrasion resistant, making it suitable for hard use environments that are inevitable in backcountry. The new semi-cap structure also enhances the durability of the sidewalls and edge protection performance without compromising its lightweight properties.

UBAC 108 | D=141.5-108-127mm (180cm) | L=173, 180, 183cm | R=20m (180cm) | ¥125,000

In addition, the binding attachment portion has been upgraded from conventional phenolic resin to titanium plates. It has improved power transfer and durability, and is designed to withstand aggressive gliding and repeated removal of bindings.

The new UBAC is more than just a lightweight touring model. As a response to all of these harsh climbs, rough barns, deep snow, and a commitment to sliding lines, it is sure to lead the way in backcountry skiing in the future.
