What kind of equipment do you need to go skiing in the backcountry (BC)?
STEEP has introduced basic equipment for BC beginners, but what do backcountry professionals, BC guides, actually carry in their backpacks? We asked two guides in Tateyama in early spring to show us the contents of their backpacks.

Jun Horie |Backcountry Glide Niseko
Jun Horie is an Austrian nationally certified ski and mountain guide who provides guide services in Niseko, Japan. As a ski instructor, he values the quality of skiing even in the backcountry, so let's take a look at his spring gear for one-day backcountry skiing
The backpack he uses is the BCA STASH30. When he opened the main compartment of the 30-liter backpack, it was packed with gear like this. He showed us the contents in a video

Iwao Saeki | Tyrol
Saeki Iwao also uses the BCA STASH30. In addition to being a backcountry ski guide and mountain guide, he has also run a mountaineering equipment specialty store in front of Toyama Station since 1968, and Mt. Tateyama is his home mountain. What's inside Saeki's backpack?
