Falling jumps are the best way to play with terrain

Hirofumi Ishikawa

Point:
The snowdrifts and slushy areas at the base of trees are sweet spots for natural jumps. "You don't need much speed; it's more like falling than jumping.

Just check the direction you're going and where you're landing, and then jump. When you're not used to it, it's easier if you compact the area where you're taking off with your skis."

Attention:
"The important thing to remember is not to jump too high. With falling jumps, the drop will be greater than you might expect. Avoid jumps when the fresh snow is gone and the landing spot is hard."

Riding tips:
Check your landing point and
be careful not to go too fast!

6.
Use any wall
you can find to create a spray while maintaining the flow of your turn.

Hirofumi Ishikawa

The typical wall-like terrain next to the Point course is actually quite difficult to execute a clean turn and hit cleanly. In particular, it looks very impressive if you can complete the turn while leaning your body inward. "When you enter the turn, visualize where you will reach the maximum point of the turn and apply pressure. It's not about applying pressure and stopping, but rather adjusting the force to continue turning without losing momentum. The key is to always prioritize the flow."

Riding tips:
Decide where you will press down the pedals most firmly.
Don't press down too hard and stop the flow.

The detour is a treasure trove of hip terrain!

Hidemitsu Okada

detours
and other areas, where you can play like you're doing a hip jump.
"The idea is to jump and land on the wall at the side of the course. The takeoff is the same as a hip jump in a park; you approach with the image of aligning your body angle with the slope where you'll land.

When landing, aim for a spot with powder. Conversely, if there's no powder, it's wiser not to force the jump. If you land too low on the wall, it becomes flat immediately afterward, making it difficult to withstand the impact."

Riding tips:
To avoid landing on the bottom edge of the wall,
powder landings are much safer.
