"Make skiing more fun...and more free." COMPASS HOUSE is a place where people, things, and events related to skiing and biking come together. The Compuss Project, a project by Yudai Ueno, who has been leading the Japanese freeskiing world since the dawn of freeride, has expanded its activities to Nozawa Onsen, Nagano Prefecture, with the aim of conveying the appeal of freeskiing to as many people as possible, and this season marks its 12th year
Separate from the main store "COMPASS HOUSE", the shop is located as "COMPASS VILLAGE" on Oyu-dori, the main street of Nozawa Onsen Village, close to the ski resort. As you can see, the store has a great atmosphere and is a very open and spacious space. The displays inside the store are full of various ideas that make you feel the mountains and nature, making it fun just to be in the store

It has a strong message as a pro shop with riders on hand, and the items on offer are carefully selected by professionals for their functionality and high design. COMPASS HOUSE is also the test center for ARMADA skis, so naturally COMPASS VILLAGE has a particularly wide selection of ARMADA items. Other popular brands include freeskiers and powder lovers
A relaxing space for skiers and snowboarders
There's also a cafe stand, making it easy to drop in after coming down from the mountain. In addition to hot drinks like hot chocolate and lattes, they also serve beer. A huge map of the village is displayed at the entrance like a work of art, which is quite interesting. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy conversations while looking at the map and sipping a coffee or beer, or browse for the unique items you'll only find at a pro shop, or stop by to pick up anything they suddenly need on the mountain, making it a popular stop

At the beginning of the season, various session events with riders are held within the ski resort. Once the snow is stable, BC events are held. Detailed event schedules will be announced on the blog and social media once they are decided. Tuning services are also provided in the summer
We plan and manage various BC events led by Takaya Kawaguchi, director of COMPASS HOUSE, ARMADA rider, and "professional guide traveling the world skiing and surfing."
① BC Training: Beginners to advanced skiers learn the necessary BC knowledge and proper gear usage from professionals. From basic walking techniques to ropework and emergency rescue training, skiers acquire the solid skills necessary for entering the mountains.
② Traveling BC: Skiing mainly in the mountains surrounding Shinshu (Nozawa, Shiga, Hakuba, Joetsu). Occasionally, we also go on expeditions... Past tours are posted on our blog.

Born in Vancouver, Canada, and raised in the foothills of the West Vancouver mountains. He started working as an instructor at the local Cypress Ski Resort and joined a company after graduating from university, but after hearing about the wonders of Japan's powder snow from a friend, he moved to Nozawa four years ago. He joined Dreamship after being strongly attracted to the personality and corporate philosophy of owner Yudai Ueno. A natural snowboarder, he was the winner of the 2020-21 FWQ Hakuba
