What is Cupid Valley (Niigata Prefecture) like?

A ski resort with a spectacular view overlooking the Sea of Japan + a hidden gem of powder!

Cupid Valley, renowned as a heavy snowfall ski resort, boasts an annual snowfall of over 15 meters! Located on a north-facing slope, the snow quality is exceptional. With 12 courses and a longest run of 4,000 meters, the resort offers a diverse range of slopes, including ungroomed areas with accumulated powder, tree runs, moguls and steep slopes, easy intermediate slopes, and a variety of beginner courses. Another unique feature is that all 12 courses are accessible from the mountaintop.

While it has excellent family-friendly facilities such as a kids' park, it would be a shame to think of it as just a family ski resort. Cupid Valley is a hidden gem of a powder field, boasting a huge "tree run area."

Topics from the '25-26 season

The No. 2 quad lift at the top of the slopes, which was closed last season for reconstruction, has been extended by 400 meters and reopened. Access to intermediate and advanced courses has been further improved, allowing skiers to fully enjoy the powder.
In addition, the tree run area has also reopened along with the lift's renovation. Experience the feeling of floating in powder and the thrill of skiing through the trees. Cupid Valley offers even more ways to enjoy yourself.

Cupid Valley recommended courses

・Liberte

Maximum gradient: 30 degrees, average gradient: 25 degrees / Distance: 400m / Slope orientation: West

This ungroomed course is a challenging one for advanced skiers. Even on steep slopes with a thick layer of snow, you can still go fast. Even if you don't go first thing in the morning, there's still powder left, and you can often carve out multiple first tracks without any tracks, even on the slopes. Previously, you had to descend to the bottom of the slope to make a circuit, but the new lift makes it much more comfortable

・Lamer

Maximum gradient: 28 degrees, average gradient: 15 degrees / Distance: 1500m / Slope orientation: North

Take the quad lift to the top of the slope and head to Skier's Left. The upper part of this 1500m long course is a gentle groomed slope, but the middle becomes ungroomed before returning to a groomed run. This is an advanced course with an excellent balance of groomed and ungroomed sections

・Tree running area

100% powder! You can enjoy the course in its natural state. Even though it's a tree run, it has an open slope and a steep incline, so you can ski anywhere on the wide open burn. It's filled with a sense of freedom and is the best! It's very popular with powder lovers

On the day of the event, you will need to submit a consent form at the information desk on the second floor of the Center House, or apply using the application form. The rules are that you must enter through the designated gate and that you are aware of the risks before skiing
