Haus St. Anton | A gourmet inn with a homey feel nestled in the foothills of Austria | Nozawa Onsen

ShinshuNozawa Onsen, yet with a Europeanfeel.

House San Anton has the appearance of a mountain lodge nestled at the foot of the European Alps. It's a special space where you feel as if you're in Austria, making you forget that you're in Nozawa Onsen, Shinshu.

However, stepping outside, you're in the heart of Nozawa Onsen's hot spring town, a luxurious location where you can fully immerse yourself in the culture of Nozawa Onsen, where history and tradition still thrive. (Of course, it's within walking distance of the ski resort!)

The owner is Mikio Katagiri, a famous downhiller who has competed in the Olympics twice. The chef and young owner, Kensaku Katagiri, is a former All-Japan Alpine Ski Champion. House San Anton, run by one of Nozawa Onsen's leading skiing families, not only do many skiers and athletes from Japan and abroad come to stay, but many foodies and VIP guests from both Japan and abroad also become repeat customers, drawn by the cuisine.

Handmade, additive-free, delicious ingredients served with love

House San Anton places the utmost importance on "food," and it goes without saying that everything they serve is handmade and additive-free. By adding "love," which is often forgotten in modern society, they aim to create a place where people can remember the true meaning of "food"—the joy of gathering and communication through food, and the importance of staying healthy through eating.

"In Nozawa Onsen, embraced by the mountains, please experience the deliciousness of ingredients that are a gift from nature, and the wonder of the world as it is. We are waiting for you in a space where you can truly feel like you've come home." This is a message from Chef Katagiri.

All guest rooms are carefully designed with original designs

The guest rooms, each uniquely designed with a European flair and filled with the owner's meticulous attention to detail, make extensive use of now-rare reclaimed wood. Each room boasts its own original style.

The classic modern space, overflowing with the warmth of wood, is incredibly calming, and seems like the perfect place to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax.

Uniquely creative cuisine

Chef Kensaku Katagiri, who honed his skills at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Osaka, creates dishes that blend French cuisine with Japanese and Asian influences, all while maintaining his own unique sense of balance and style. Each imaginative dish offers a surprise, and its roots lie in his respect for the culture and climate of Shinshu, where he was born and raised in Nozawa Onsen.

Breakfast is a time to savor House San Anton's homemade jams. Start your day elegantly with the day's recommended jam and exquisite egg dishes.

Even if you are not staying at House San Anton, you can still enjoy a meal there.
(Reservations are required at least one day in advance.)

"Excellent" and "Recommended!"

The food is the highlight! Enjoy the chef's unique combination of ingredients, blending the cooking techniques he has cultivated over his many years of overseas experience with the food culture of Shinshu. We recommend finishing off your meal with the specialty Parmigiano-Reggiano risotto (winter only). There is also a shop and cafe selling homemade jams and juices

<A brief message>
