Nakajimaya Ryokan | A warm inn where you can immerse yourself in mountain village life | Nozawa Onsen

A charming inn with hot spring water flowing directly from the source

Shinshu Nozawa Onsen attracts a wide range of repeat visitors, from hardcore skiers seeking smooth runs to hot spring enthusiasts and foreign tourists. Nakajima-ya is a hot spring inn with 15 rooms located in the heart of the hot spring town.

The baths inside the inn use free-flowing hot spring water, offering a truly authentic hot spring experience. Guests can relax and enjoy the fresh, high-quality spring water, which is rich in skin-beautifying components. Right in front of the inn is Kuma no Tearai-yu, one of the village's 13 public baths, and particularly popular in Nozawa for its skin-beautifying effects. It's a perfect location where you can conveniently enjoy both indoor and outdoor baths.

The young proprietress is a top professional snowboarder who has dominated the competition scene

The young owner of Nakajimaya is a former cross-country ski athlete, and his wife is Yukiko Kaneda (maiden name), a professional snowboarder. She was once a top rider who dominated the freestyle competition scene. She is still active in the snowboarding scene, coaching local children and actively working to promote snowboarding

"The best part of traveling is experiencing the place. We value hospitality so that you can fully enjoy the food, hot springs, town, and human kindness that are unique to Nozawa Onsen," is the message from the young proprietress

Quiet, calm and relaxing space

The 15 guest rooms come in a variety of types. The Japanese-Western style rooms with two semi-double beds and an 8.6 tatami mat Japanese-style room are popular with inbound families, while the Japanese-style rooms range from 8 to 12.5 tatami mats, allowing you to choose according to the size of your group. There is also a 60 tatami mat banquet hall.

Nakajima-ya's original samue (traditional Japanese work clothes) are provided in the rooms. It's also fun to stroll around the hot spring town in this authentic hot spring style.

Shinshu's representative local cuisine

The menu features three representative local dishes from the Shinshu area, allowing you to enjoy the unique flavors of Nozawa. In addition, they offer "Shinshu beef raised on apples" from the foot of the Shiga Kogen mountains, as well as simple yet flavorful dishes.

The perfect accompaniment to these dishes are the local sakes "Mizuo" and "Hokko Masamune." Be sure to try the local sakes of northern Shinshu.

"Excellent" and "Recommended!"

These local dishes are essential for weddings, funerals, and other ceremonies in Nozawa. This is the taste of Nozawa. We also recommend the apple-fed Shinshu beef, which you can enjoy in four different cuts!
