Sammy Carlson's latest film, "North of Snow," has been released
Due to the impact of the coronavirus, borders have been closed in the 21st season. This video was shot in his home town of Revelstoke, Canada, during this difficult time for travel
Originally a slopestyle athlete, this work showcases his unique jumping techniques, which he has shown in competitions and video productions, as well as many captivating elements of his skating
He gracefully skis cliff jumps and pillow lines over 10 meters high, and performs butter 180s off jump tricks, discovering his own unique new lines in the mountains of Revelstoke with his free-spirited tricks. His performance is striking, as he plays with the natural formations of the snow-capped mountains, like a surfer manipulating the waves. Sammy's fresh image is revealed as he kicks up a huge cloud of snow with his spray and skis through the backcountry with a switch. At the same time, the film contains scenes that will make anyone think, "I want to ski in a place like this."
Also appearing in the video is Yu Sasaki, who also lives in Revelstoke.
Sasaki himself says that he "admired" Sammy's skating and was greatly influenced by it. You can watch the whole excitement on Sasaki's YouTube channel, so be sure to check it out.
