BRAND features

OSPREY was born as a backpack manufacturer in Santa Cruz, California in 1974. Founder and designer Mike Pfotenhauer was fascinated by the elegant flight of the endangered Osprey at the time, and adopted the name of the bird for the brand name and logo mark.

Mike, who majored in painting at an art college, focused on pucks as objects of practical creation that integrated his hobby of mountaineering and art. When he first started he made bespoke packs for himself and mountaineers. After that, he fed back the requests from users and the opinions of developers, and devoted himself to product development to get closer to the ideal pack. As a result, Osprey packs have earned an unwavering position as superior packs that demonstrate high quality, reliability and innovation over the long term. Currently, the production base has been moved to Asia, but the company continues to produce products that have both functional beauty and outstanding performance, with the same quality and philosophy that has remained unchanged since its founding.
