Raising funds to aim for the Milan-Cortina Olympics in Italy four years from now
Akira Sasaki, who announced his return to alpine racing in March this year, has started a crowdfunding campaign. In order to compete in the Olympics, he will need to compete overseas. However, sponsorship fees are currently insufficient to cover the costs
Originally reluctant to raise money, he chose crowdfunding because, he explains, " I wanted to create an environment where people could feel close to my future activities, both directly and indirectly, and I wanted to share the time we spent working together towards our goals.I wanted to work towards the community I desire with many friends ."
Donations can be made starting from 5,000 yen, and there are many rewards, such as the distribution of activity report videos and online meetings. Depending on the amount donated, supporters' names may also be printed on the bibs worn during the race
The crowdfunding campaign has been a hot topic on social media even before it began, attracting a lot of attention. It began at 10 PM on July 19th, and as of 10 AM on July 20th, about half a day later, over 300 people have donated more than 7 million yen out of the 10 million yen target
His challenge, which starts with no points, will be one to watch
