The world's top outdoor film festival will be held in five cities across Japan!
The 18th annual Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival in Japan 2022 will kick off on October 15th in Tokyo and Fukuoka. The festival will be held in two parts: live in five cities across the country and online
The festival is scheduled to visit Osaki, Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo from October 15th to 16th, Fukuoka City on October 15th only, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture on October 22nd, Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture on November 5th, and Asahi Town, Toyama Prefecture on November 19th. The online festival will be held from 7:00 PM on November 19th to 11:59 PM on November 27th. Some films will not be screened at each venue during the online festival, so you can still enjoy it even if you cannot make it to the venue in person
The films to be screened are short films ranging from a few minutes to 50 minutes, and each will be grouped into four programs, A to D, with six to seven films in each group. Program C will be selected from films screened at each venue, while Program D will be entirely online only
◇What is the Banff Mountain Film Festival?
This film festival, held every November at the Banff Centre, a cultural facility in the heart of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, has a history of over 40 years. Over 350 films are submitted from around the world, from which the Grand Prix and award-winning works are selected. The selected films are then screened in 45 countries across six continents as part of a world tour, attracting over 550,000 outdoor enthusiasts from around the world. The event brings together films that depict the joy, beauty and harshness of mountains and outdoor sports from around the world, as well as the lives of people living in unknown, remote areas
