What is the Hokkaido Powder Belt?
Located in central Hokkaido, this is the collective name for ski areas such as Tomamu, Furano, Kamui, and Kurodake, where you can enjoy some of the world's best powder snow. The area is dotted with everything from rugged snowy mountains to local and resort ski resorts. Everyone can enjoy the snow, from advanced skiers who know the world's mountains to backcountry beginners
The Powder Belt's popularity is due to its excellent snow quality and easy access. Dotted around the area are numerous snowy mountains and ski resorts, allowing you to choose a location based on the weather and conditions of the day. The low humidity and long periods of temperatures dropping to around -20-30°C make the powder snow a major draw, allowing you to enjoy it for a long period of time.
Access is also highly convenient, as the area is surrounded by three airports: Asahikawa Airport, Obihiro Airport, and New Chitose Airport. Numerous rental car counters and ski buses depart and arrive from each airport, making travel easy.
Additionally, the scattered ski resort areas each have their own unique charm, from urban to resort types. Each type offers excellent après-ski activities, allowing you to enjoy a variety of ski resorts in this area.
