Two new Jeep® models announced and orders begin
Jeep has announced its latest models, the Jeep® Commander and Jeep® Grand Cherokee, and orders for these vehicles began at authorized Jeep dealerships nationwide on October 24, 2022
Jeep® Commander

Jeep has released a long-awaited new mid-size SUV with three rows of seating and seven passengers. It replaces the Cherokee, whose production for Japan ended at the end of 2021, and fills the gap between the Compass and Grand Cherokee. Its comprehensive lineup of cutting-edge digital technology and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) delivers class-leading convenience and safety. While maintaining Jeep's legendary off-road performance, it's equipped with a full range of features that enhance passenger comfort and safety, and boasts a cargo capacity and configurability to accommodate a variety of lifestyles
In addition to improvements in body rigidity and materials, the car is equipped with ADAS, which supports safe driving. It has many functions, including a highway assist system, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, and drowsy driving detection. In addition to these functions, it is also equipped with parking assist functions such as parallel parking, diagonal parking assist, and 360° view. In addition to these, more than 60 other systems support safety
The exterior follows the lineage of the Grand Cherokee L. The seven-slot grille at the front is integrated with the headlights. The roof is painted black, creating a premium atmosphere. The trapezoidal wheel arches, typical of Jeep, are also present
The interior is also meticulously designed with a high-quality feel. Depending on the body color, black or Emperor Brown is combined, and the diamond quilting on the seat support adds to the high-quality design. Each seat row inside the car has ample space. All seats are equipped with a reclining function, supporting a comfortable ride. The doors open up to 80 degrees, making entry and exit a breeze
The Commander is Jeep's first turbo diesel engine. It combines a nine-speed automatic transmission with the electronically controlled 4x4 system "Jeep® ActiveDrive," achieving high off-road performance and fuel economy. It also features the "SELECTerrain™ System," which uses powertrain and electronic controls to optimize driving in any road conditions. For snow sports enthusiasts like us, the "SNOW" mode is also available
Jeep also announced the introduction of a "3D Configurator" function on its official website, which allows customers to view accessory installation images and interior and exterior color configurators in 360° 3D. This tool allows customers to consider their purchase regardless of location, even before visiting a dealership. This function is planned to be rolled out to all models in the future
Initially, only the Limited model will be available, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 5,970,000 yen. Options such as a sunroof (+160,000 yen) and pearl coat (+55,000 yen) are also available (price includes tax)
In addition, in conjunction with the announcement of Commander, the "New Sophisticated Adventure" campaign will begin next year. Multi-talented player Yuji will serve as the ambassador and will promote the appeal of Commander
■Jeep® Grand Cherokee

Jeep's flagship Grand Cherokee series, which underwent a full model change for the first time in 10 years in February 2022, now features a standard body model with two rows of seats and five passengers, making it easy to maneuver around town. In addition to the three-row, seven-passenger L model announced last year, a two-row gasoline-powered vehicle and a PHEV have been introduced, completing the full flagship lineup. Notably, the PHEV model is the brand's second plug-in hybrid model, following the Renegade 4xe

The plug-in hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0L inline 4-cylinder turbo engine, two electric motors, a 350V battery pack, and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The "E-Select" driving mode can be selected from three modes: "HYBRID mode," "ELECTRIC mode," and "e-SAVE mode." In this electric mode, the vehicle can travel up to 53km on the motor alone. The electric vehicle page allows users to view driving history to monitor power flow and schedule charging times for times when electricity rates are lower
The body colors are Bright White, Velvet Red, Diamond Black Crystal, and Baltic Gray Metallic. The Summit Reserve 2.0L 4xe comes with a black painted roof regardless of the body color
All Grand Cherokee models are equipped with the next-generation in-vehicle communications module, the Telematics Box Module (TBM), which offers a variety of convenient connectivity features that enhance your driving experience, including traffic and weather information, walking route guidance from the vehicle's destination to your final destination, and alerts for abnormalities in vehicle conditions such as oil level and tire pressure
