SNOWBOARD MASTERS (hereafter referred to as SBM) is a contest to determine the "best snowboarder in Japan." Unlike previous years, this year they will be holding the banked slalom event "SBM BANKED+." The venue is Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort's Yamabiko B Course. Entry is open to anyone aged 18 or over with a resident registration in Japan
Normally, SBM is a competition based on the overall ability of competitors in two events: "Freeride Performance," in which competitors use the various terrains on the course to perform, and "Obstacle Slalom," in which competitors compete for time while clearing various terrains. However, due to the rising temperatures and snowfall and melting snow this season, it was determined that it would be impossible to create a course that would allow competitors to perform well. This resulted in the cancellation of the event in the usual format
What is banked slalom anyway?

Banked slalom is a sport in which skiers compete for time by clearing corners while making use of the banks (slope) on the course. Simply skiing the shortest distance can result in a loss of time, so the key to shortening your time is how well you use the banks to accelerate. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and in recent years the number of banked slalom courses has been increasing at ski resorts all over the country
