VECTOR GLIDE and avalanche gear manufacturer PIEPS are collaborating to hold a special event called "Backcountry Introduction" on Thursday, December 18th in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, for those who want to start backcountry skiing or skiers and snowboarders who want to refresh their knowledge. Through classroom training and gear experience, the event will teach the basics for enjoying backcountry skiing safely.
The event will take place on the first floor of Lost Arrow headquarters and lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a maximum capacity of 20 people and a participation fee of 11,000 yen. The small group size means participants can feel comfortable asking questions and participate with peace of mind. The program includes a classroom lecture on backcountry basics and safety equipment knowledge, an explanation of PIEPS gear and practical training, and a Q&A session. The content allows participants to learn about safety awareness and equipment understanding efficiently in a short amount of time, making it the perfect content for taking their first steps into backcountry skiing.
The instructors will be Masayuki Akiba, representative of VECTOR GLIDE, and JUNRINA Guide Service. Akiba is from Hokkaido and has a wide range of experience in competitive skiing, ski cross, and freeskiing. He founded the ski brand VECTOR GLIDE in 2002. JUNRINA is based in Echigo Yuzawa and provides guided tours for mountain climbing and backcountry skiing, and also works to raise safety awareness.
Tickets for the event will be on sale until Monday, December 15th. Take advantage of this valuable opportunity to learn how to enjoy backcountry skiing more safely and in greater depth.
